Swiss Medical -Aurora Couretot (insurance broker)

Aurora Couretot is a former doctor who speaks excellent English and has been a medical insurance broker for Swiss Medical for 6 years. Aurora is an experienced adviser who personally explains and guides you through the various health coverage options. In addition to its proprietary ultra-modern clinical complex in Recoleta, Swiss Medical also covers Hospital Italiano, Hospital Britanico plus several other clinics.

Its quite easy to get an insurance plan in Argentina.  Generally, if you can afford it and pay for it most companies will give you a policy.  Swiss Medical is very good as is OSDE and Medicus.

Swiss Medical will only cover you if you are healthy and no pre-existing condition. They dropped my friend who has been covered for 20 years because he acquired diabetes. Now how is that? They abandon you when you need them the most. Medicus is the way to go - AURORA might be great but she is representing a company that suck the blood right out of you and in any medical book that is not health care but BUSINESS.

I am a native Manhattanite living in Buenos Aires for almost two years. A year after I arrived, I signed up with Swiss Medical through Aurora Couretot.  It was a brilliant move.  Both Aurora and the coverage have been outstanding.   I mainly use doctors and services the modern Swiss Medical Clinic on Pueyrredon.  (After having tried the free health services offered through the public hospitals, let me tell you Swiss Medical is light years better!)  They are modern, up-to-date, top-quality… plus fast, responsive and reliable.   Through one of their referrals, I recently underwent foot surgery at Hospital Italiano (one of the many facilities included in Swiss Medical coverage) and that, too, has been exceptional – in terms of both surgery and service.   In response to the above comment about denying coverage, maybe I got lucky.  Even though I had a pre-existing condition, Swiss Medical fully covered my surgery -- perhaps they recognized arthritis is progressively degenerative. If you are contemplating local health coverage, I strongly recommend contacting Aurora.  Like many things Argentine, the medical processes are not the same as in the States and it helps to have someone “explain” the procedures.  As a medical doctor in addition to being an agent, Aurora really knows the ropes.  Her excellent knowledge of English – as well as her concern – was a godsend.

I think its been said already, you dont need to pay an insurance broker.  Swiss Medical is ok however, as comments have posted it seems like a good idea to investigate whatever insurance company you are buying a policy from before making a commitment.  This website has reviews of many insurance plans.

Just want to say that it doesn't cost any more to purchase health insurance through an agent... so it makes more sense to have someone -- particularly someone who speaks good English -- help guide you through the process.  Why not?

Aurora came to our house and helped us get set up. She was friendly and got it all taken care of quickly.

Aurora was extremely helpful, and walked us through the process of getting insurance, preparing the papers before we had our baby, enabling us to quickly add her to the insurance before she was born. She was quick to respond, and diligent about getting us answers. Our experience so far (6 meses) with Swiss Medical and Aurora has been nothing but wonderful. We had our first child at the Swiss Maternity Ward and our experience far exceeded anything I'd dream of having in the US. Nos encantó todo.

If you are looking for medical coverage, I highly reccomend going through Swiss Medical with Aurora Couretot.  I arrived in B.A. from NYC about 2 weeks ago and have found my dealings with Aurora to be a high point of my new life here so far.  She was extremely gracious and warm, explained everything thoroughly, and went out of her way to answer every one of my questions, including reccomendations I asked for having nothing to do with medical insurance.  Aurora took my friend and I around and showed us the facilities on Pueyrredon. I know I can count on her if I have any more questions and I would definitely go through her brokerage for Swiss Medical.

I've had no problems with Aurora, and she's been very helpful whenever I've had questions about Swissmedical and my coverage, recommended clinics, etc. She also speaks great English, in case you don't speak Spanish.

I would highly recommend acquiring health insurance through Swiss Medical and using Aurora as an agent.  The experience was straightforward and positive.  My coverage has been excellent.  Aurora pulls no punches and did a thorough job explaining policies and working with my needs as a client.  It was a great way to start getting settled here in Buenos Aires.  An A+ for Aurora and Swiss Medical.
