Tough Times For Argentine Factories As Consumers Penny-pinch

Some things made in Argentina are awful, but some are of quality you will never find outside anymore. What these guys were making in the past borders to art sometimes. Some furniture, or doors are like new after 40 years of heavy use. But then your termotanque explodes after 2 years, and you are...

Argentina sees sharpest drop in beef consumption for 30 years

If Argentines should cut something, it should be sweet drinks. In my opinion overconsumption of meat is positive for their health, because they almost don't eat other carbohydrates. But lately I see a lot of obesity I didn't notice 10 years ago. A lot of Argentines also refuse to walk 100m...

Is the Milei "Transformation" Failing Already?

I had no expectations whatsoever, and have yet to see any effort to improve the economy. Yes, it was and still is a mess, but for any changes to happen you need to implement something. That something is missing, so why would economy improve in the distant future? Cutting everywhere has never...

Is the Milei "Transformation" Failing Already?

I guess it's pretty simple. Government prints allright, but it doesn't pass it to people. Instead, it's buying dolars from those people. So usd stagnate, there are still pesos going in, when mixed with outstanding Argentinian economy, you get high inflation despite lack of purchasing power. It's...

Anybody else notice coffee recently not tasting good?

In Italy not by much, I'm usually buying lavazza between 8 and 10 euros /kg.

Is the Milei "Transformation" Failing Already?

They have to decide, if there is money or not. As it looks like there is plenty of it, but not for the people and services that would benefit them. Using MAGA narrative is distasteful.

Can I bring a 30" brand new monitor without the aduana?

I guess this goes for newly purchased goods? Since basically every gadget you carry exceeds this amount. Monitors are not even on expensive side usually, they are just bulky and maybe a bit unusual.

    Milei’s Amputation Regime for Argentina

That's a relief, to be honest. Wouldn't like to see dolarization happening with these guys. I guess even milei isn't so crazy, to get through with such a shit show.

Can I bring a 30" brand new monitor without the aduana?

If prices didn't drop significantly in last month, they are crazy out of the line for electronics. Double more is minimum in my opinion.

Can I bring a 30" brand new monitor without the aduana?

I often traveled with monitor and several laptops, and never had any problems. Nothing was in original packaging of course, but also they never checked if anything was new. Monitors were always middle range, nothing terribly expensive.

How much more are you paying for your health (prepaga) insurance?

I'm aware of that list. Data for Greenland are from 1970, Argentina 2017 and the rest all between. But hospital beds by itself don't show anything about quality of healthcare. Also it is not clear, which beds they are counting. Only public, or all? Beds are maybe plenty, but for healthcare...

How much more are you paying for your health (prepaga) insurance?

It is very insensitive to phrase it like this. Very usa stand, if I may say. Underpriced according to what? Salaries of medical workers? To the countries with gdp 3x and higher? At the same time barely anything goes to public healthcare. I have no data on the profits of private health insurance...

    Supermarket Arg vs Spain

Not everything is cheaper, but nothing is much more expensive. But a lot of things are cheaper, or at least there are cheaper options, considered worse quality, but still surpassing Argentinian quality. When you put purchasing power in the mix, it's just crazy. Energy and water are still much...
