Can I bring a 30" brand new monitor without the aduana?

I brought two. They couldn’t care less. They care much more about Argentinians than about foreigners

    Learning Spanish

I take lessons with a teacher from this group. It’s good. https://www.instagram.com/escuelavesre?igsh=NTA3Y3E2bjYybDV4

Kids activity programs for July&August 2024.

Have they had exposure to Spanish? My kids couldn’t follow school the first couple months, even though my wife always spoke to them in Spanish. Kids are fast learners but not two-months fast; with just two months you’ll be taking them out of school just when they start understanding what’s being...

    Aerolíneas discontinues flights to NYC

I did Avianca once. It was awful. No air conditioning, lumpy seats from twenty years ago. Never again. Delta’s direct flight is seasonal, so in winter American will be the only option. And it’ll be $$$$$.

How much more are you paying for your health (prepaga) insurance?

Paying a bit over $600 USD now for family of 4 with Swiss Medical. Even if other prices go down and stabilize, I don’t think health insurance will go back to what it was (without regulations). They won’t care about losing customers; they’ll keep pushing the rates until they reach the point where...

Is the Overstay Fine Payable at Aeroparque Jorge Newberry?

The whole dance is about 10-20 minutes. But I can’t recall if you need to pay with peso or credit card is accepted.

Is the Overstay Fine Payable at Aeroparque Jorge Newberry?

Yes it’s easy but ask someone for help finding the office, it’s small and you won’t locate it on your own. You need to pay it before you check in.

Javier Milei Ended a DC-Sized Deficit in...Nine Weeks

If DC also shut down half the state’s departments and services with zero regard for the impact on the lives of its residents, they’d also end their deficit. It’s not very impressive. If he reduced the deficit while not destroying quality of life for Argentine citizens - that would be impressive.

Is Argentina Still a Good Deal?

I have a few local friends who own businesses, and from my conversations (and of course this is anecdotal), small and medium size business owners here think in radically different terms to how we are used to in the USA and elsewhere. In the USA, business is all about the long term planning and...

Is Argentina Still a Good Deal?

Also anecdotely - my middle class local friends are dying right now and massively feeling this crunch. Their salaries have definitely not gone up anything close to the current inflation. Plenty of things like food and gas are 2.5x what they were four months ago; salaries have not increased by...

Immigrating to the US with Argentine spouse?

Maybe if you live in Beverly Hills. My lawyer in NYC cost $1000 and did everything.

Is the Milei "Transformation" Failing Already?

Drudge reporting today on Milei’s social media habits: https://www.yahoo.com/news/argentinas-troll-president-milei-takes-012820845.html I lived in the US during the Trump presidency and this is pure deja vu. I’ve seen this movie before…

Immigrating to the US with Argentine spouse?

My wife is Argentine. We did it there. Her visa expired a few days after we started the green card process; if you have a decent lawyer, it doesn’t r matter that the visa expires as long as it expires after you start the process and not before. Make sure your lawyer also applies for Parole...

Private Spanish Tutor for basic Spanish next week?

$25 an hour?! You're paying through your nose. Most teachers are $10-$15 an hour if they officially target expats; a more local teacher is $6 an hour; I was paying that a few months ago

The Case For President Sergio Massa

The first people who'll be screwed if this digital peso happens is all of Massa's 1% buddies; no way they want all their money tracked.

    Western Union money transfer

Is there a way to send money to an Argentinean business account via the WU app? I want to pay my WeWork bill via Western Union but it only seems to accept recipient data for individuals, not companies: it asks for a first name, last name, CUIL and not CUIT, etc. Any way to do this?
