I am NOT an expert on this, but when I painted my pool back in Florida a few years ago, by the time I was finished I wished I had hired a pro! Apparently, the quality of the paint is MUY importante (I hope you can get some here) and my attempt to add deep blue color didn't work out quite the way I planned! Suerte!!! David Quote:

Do not leave your pool empty..with the heat that is coming it will crack!! I would fill it....have the gardener top it off as needed....and then try and line someone up to give it a good cleaning the day before you get back...so you can take a big plung and then paint it when the weather cools off a little.

Yes, important to have the pool full when you leave; to make sure the sides do not bulge in from the pressure of the earth, especailly if it rains a lot and the earth around the pool gets waterlooged. Wait until you get back and paint it, then refill asap after it dries.

I love my pool and after six years of caring for it, I agree with those who say paint it, fill it (cuz the sides will bulge and crack from pressure from earth), and have someone keep it full and skim off surface debris and perhaps run the filter. Can you get someone to clean it a week before you get back? Depending on your area (we get lots of windblown dust and dirt), you may need to add the chemical clarifier and then let stuff settle to be vacuumed. Also, if algae have grown, you may need to add chlorine more than once (after dark) to clear it up. Maybe one of your friends that likes to use your pool could handle this. Enjoy the holidays in England!

1) Paint it NOW 2) Fill it with water 3) Teach me what I need to know to keep the chlorine levels right 4) Give me the keys to the place 5) Get the F out of town until February. (I promise to take pictures.) I'm thinking that having my own pool in the Gran Buenos Aires area is not going to hurt my social life this summer. gracias y llamame, Napoleon
