Did you mean 4000 USD? Sending my motorcycle cost me 1200 USD total from Antwerpen. It cost 3600 USD for the full container, I paid 1/3. The cheapest i saw on travellers forums was 550 USD for a motorcycle in a crate just to pay port fees, total was also 1200 USD (from Australia). 3 years ago, it cost us 2500 USD to send a container with 2 motorcycles from Portugal (1000 USD for me).

You were lucky. A car just like the one I wanted to bring was valued at 3 times what I was able to sell it for.

Im from Argentina but living in the US. Im moving back to Argentina in Feb. Returning citizens do not have to pay fees for the vehicle but i have to declare it at the argentine consulate here in Florida along with anything else im taking. I just though that it might be a good opportunity to take a vehicle and either put it to work in Baires or sell it.

During the 90´s decade, all types of products including cars were freely imported. Up to then, there were no cars with catalytic converters, and therefore no un-leaded gasoline. But as these cars were introduced, the lead was removed so now I believe it´s all "nafta sin plomo".

The great amount of fumes in the city is mainly from diesel-burning buses and trucks, plus many cars with worn-out piston rings that burn a lot of oil.

Either way, it was many times worse before. They even burned garbage within each high-rise building´s own furnace, until that was outlawed. You can still see the chutes where you dropped your trash on every floor, where you now just leave the bags on the floor.

Don't do it. It's just not worth the nightmare you will have.

I checked and it was 400 EURO, it was a normal container with just the car in it. not a 'roll on roll off' ship, specialized in car.

I m very surprised because this is very off standards. Would you be kind enough to share your experience with travellers willing to ship their vehicule to Buenos Aires at this address?

Thanks in advance, you would really help those people save on shipping and ports costs.

I am not an expert on this, there is a man in my husbands company whose job is looking for (cheap) containers to ship material from all over the world to the other side of the world. He arranged this.
I don't know the details but you must find a 'return container', they are usually cheap. Find for example the company that ships oranges (or other products) from BA to harbour X, then book the container back to BA (or the other way). Sometimes the containers are fully booked in both directions, sometimes (and more often then one thinks) they return (or go) empty.

In this case we worked with Kuhne and Nagel.

I hope this helps.
