What happens to a permanent residency when you leave for good?

Steven, What you shared with us is amazing from all angles. I am intrigued by the part of your former girlfriend and her attorney conspiring against you for a property in her name. The basic question is: How do you ever know who you can trust in this life? I know there are always signs and...

Sending money to Argentina via transfer

I have tried Xoom, it is a good alternative for sure. (Can't say anything bad about it.) I just like the layout of WU's AP / Website a bit better.

Sending money to Argentina via transfer

WU (Western Union) is a very good option. Check some of the threads and posts here. There is a ton of information. The service is reliable, fast and you can receive some of the best exchange rates available. GL (Good luck!)

When I re-enter Argentina with my new iPhone, will the aduana charge me

Brandon, Don't beat yourself up. You did the best you could. No one ever learned much of anything through success. The best learning comes as a result of dealing with adversity and failure. I have a healthy respect for a hot stove. My parents always warned me of the dangers of being careless...

When I re-enter Argentina with my new iPhone, will the aduana charge me

Yes, I know. I studied all this before making my decision to pay more (Ultimately about the same) for a bicycle inside of the country as opposed to dragging a bike with me on my journey. So I concluded what I did, was the best overall option. HOWEVER: A key point that occurred to me is that...

When I re-enter Argentina with my new iPhone, will the aduana charge me

NO! It's not better to pay at the official rate. I was merely stating that it can be done without possessing pesos. ie The Argentine government will happily accept plastic. It will cost you more, but it is an option. BTW - I am not a fan of paying more than I have to for anything in this life...

When I re-enter Argentina with my new iPhone, will the aduana charge me

Brandon, I avoided this one Christmas. How? Instead of doing what you did. (Bringing the bike into the country.) I purchased the bike in Argentina and after all was said and done, my wallet felt the same as your's did! The cost of the bike, relative to what it was, style, quality etc ... was...

When I re-enter Argentina with my new iPhone, will the aduana charge me

I am confident that there is an option to pay with plastic. If you are carrying plastic from another country, the transaction will go through, it will be converted to pesos. You will see this on your monthly statement along with a line item for a foreign transaction fee, if they are part of...

You raise a good point. I can't ever remember settling any debt with any Argentine governmental entity in anything but pesos.

When I re-enter Argentina with my new iPhone, will the aduana charge me

Good point you make. Please consider this: I have, many times entered the country (I know, during better, past times!) with two computers and two cell phones for my own use. I was questioned about it and I could easily demonstrate I was carrying one each for business and personal use. (The...

Fiscal, Some advice to consider: If you can afford it, pay it! It's far easier to take one trip, then return with your goodies, paying the import tariff if ordered to do so. I think that is far easier than making multiple trips. I think the cost would come close to the same overall. (What's...

Fiscal, I knew you were serious. These things do exist and it is within the scope of bringing one to the country. (You are right, THEY ARE AWESOME! I'd love to be 5, 6 or 7 years old again with a serious toy like this!!!)

    The Longest Word

"fotoenvejecimiento" (photoaging???) On the whole, this is an easy word to pronounce, at least it is for me. I really enjoy the life long process of polishing my secondary language skills. To me, this is some kind of fun and pleasure in the process. No matter where I am, or what I haven't...

Can you share a little more regarding exiting Argentina with more than $2K in goods? That is interesting. Thanks
