Argentine rules regarding receival of foreign pension

I am reviving this thread as I am interested in the VA disability angle and also how many members are doing some version of this. I recently got to 100% P&T and am considering moving, at least part of the year, to be closer to my wife's family. We would be out in the provinces and not in Baires...

Surcharge for using a foreign card at a restaurant

I run into merchants who will do this occasionally where I am in Salta. Always while paying with the MercadoPago or whatever that white and blue card reader thing is. Not limited to foreign cards, any time you want to pay with a card. They just add 10% of the total price before running the...

Is it a bad idea to open my laptop in the parque?

Years ago a friend's "welcome to Argentina" experience was having her laptop bag pinched when she decided to "sit and study" in a park. Good luck!

Does anybody know someone who day trades in Argentina?

I assume you would just keep trading US stocks with your US-based account. Just keep everything the way it is and as long as you have an internet connection, you should be fine. I have never encountered any kind of "geo-fencing" that would lock you out from trading a US based account merely...

Bag drop or storage at AEP, EZE, anywhere?

This place worked great. Used the one across the street from the hotel libertador.

    Price of meat will skyrocket

I got 7 kilos for New Years from the neighborhood carniceria in the province for 47,250 pesos. At about $3/lb thats about a third of what I’d pay for similar cuts in the states, and honestly it’s hard to find decent beef for under $9.99US/lb anywhere these days, anyway. If prices double from...

Foreign credit cards purchases at MEP rate

I forgot to mention some places want to add 10 or 15% for using the MercadoPago CC machines, while others seem to just eat the cost and don’t add any extra %. Completely varies.

Foreign credit cards purchases at MEP rate

Have been getting between 920 and 980 pesos per dollar using a US-issued Visa this week and last. Sometimes it seems a little more, like a couple of days ago a posted transaction for 37k pesos even came out at $37.72. For the ease of not having to dig out tons of bills, I am happy with the rate.

Bag drop or storage at AEP, EZE, anywhere?

Aerolineas helpfully cancelled our noon flight to AEP and rebooked us on an earlier one. Now we have about 8 or 9 hours in Baires before we have to board at EZE. Does anyone know if there is anywhere at AEP, or perhaps at the bus station near Puerto Madero and the Casa Rosada (the one that...

Foreign credit cards purchases at MEP rate

Thanks. Seems easy enough and less hassle.

Foreign credit cards purchases at MEP rate

Heading down in a few days and unsure whether to bother with many cabezas grandes…but with so many different rates, I’m confused. Does Visa eventually give something close to the bolsa/MEP (I think the same thing?). With as close as it is to the blue it seems easier than constantly changing...

    Current covid entry requirements?

Just an update : a couple of days ago it was a breeze getting through and no questions asked. They asked to see a printout of the migraciones affidavit confirmation and nothing else. Nothing about health insurance, although I note there was a question about that on the affidavit itself. No one...

    Current covid entry requirements?

For now we will plan on bringing a physical insurance card and a letter or website printout that states the extent of overseas COVID coverage. It sounds like things should be going okay and that if you are likely to get any trouble, it's probably with the airlines and not the authorities on the...
