After Argentina: South America Options for Naturalized Argentine Citizens

If you're willing to go further north consider visiting El Salvador. I was there for the first time about a year ago and was amazed with the country. First place I have travelled to where people were actually proud of their president, and everyone I ran into was nice and welcoming. Definitely an...

How's everyone hanging in there with the cost of living these days?

Good idea. Time and time again I see people relocating to a place because it has a favorable exchange rate, oblivious to the fact that rates can and do change over time, not always in their favor. Leaving them trapped in a place they can no longer afford.

Crypt coin shared by Argentina's President Javier Milei skyrocketed Friday, then collapsed

It's been clear from the start the Milei is a big Trump fan-boy. But his mimicking of the US President's every move is getting pretty embarrassing at this point. MA(Argentina)GA, anyone?

A coffee for $3.50: Argentina is the most expensive country in Latin America

Exactly! I was going to add that the "somebody" is tourists who buy into the idea that Don Julio is the best steakhouse in the world. Ate there about a year ago; it was easily the worst food and service compared to smaller neighborhood places.

Argentina says it will pull out of World Health Organization

Now, if Argentina announced it was pulling out of the IMF, I'd quickly become a Milei fan.

Does anyone else feel there might be a peso collapse this year?

Excellent point. It's also important to look at the "product" that is being produced and measured as part of the GDP. I remember reading a while back that about 25% of the US GDP is attributable to rent-seeking activities such as interest income, bank late fees and charges, etc. So, to make the...

Milei allows use of military domestically, by decree.

Wondering if Milei is familiar with the law of unintended consequences?

Argentina’s poor hit hard by Milei’s ‘chainsaw’ measures

Argentina’s Javier Milei has made a horrible mistake

Yes. Whenever I hear people babbling about the "Milei Miracle" that they have read about somewhere, I always ask if the have ever been to Argentina before, and if so for how long. 99.99% of the time they never have, but assure me they will just as soon as Milei turns things around.

Milei given Italian citizenship, sparking outrage

I read about this granting of citizenship this morning (from a different source) and 2 questions immediately came to mind: 1. How on earth does this help the country/people of Argentina? In other words, does Milei not have better things to do? 2. Why go to Italy 5 times in one year? China or...

How's everyone hanging in there with the cost of living these days?

"What's with all the doom and gloom." I used to wonder the same thing for quite some time. Then one day I was sitting outside, having lunch at a restaurant in Palermo and was amazed at all of the people crowding the locales. They were mainly young locals, not tourists. Even though young people...

How's everyone hanging in there with the cost of living these days?

That's one thing that stands out about being in Argentina. You find yourself unwittingly "sucked into" an unhealthy fixation of trying to figure out how many pesos you'll need for the next few days, so that they don't lose too much value. By and large it's not the norm in other countries, but...

Argentina’s Economy Unexpectedly Shrank Amid Austerity Push

If I'm not mistaken this Murray Rothbard character was outed as a bot a while ago, on a different thread.

Is Argentina Still a Good Deal?

I know it's wishful thinking, but after countless bad Airbnb experiences with "5-star" places and "super" hosts, I would be nice to see a global class action suit against Airbnb to take place. With a market cap of +$84 billion USD, they could surely improve their customer service and perform...
