I just got my birth certificate apostilled so I should be good on that front.
On my birth certificate, next to my mother's (changed) name and where she signed it says: "Country of birth: Argentina" I'm assuming I'll also need to bring her American passport (which says her country of birth)...
No I'm in the U.S. right now, living in Los Angeles. I've had this idea about moving to Argentina ever since last January but never actually decided to do anything about it until now, so I want to get over there! :)
I've been trying to get a hold of what papers/documents/forms I need to go...
That's just perfect!! I think I will just go for citizenship then. I'm scared about how long it will take though. I heard it can take up to one year to get the passport and DNI and I want to go to Argentina as soon as possible.
If the passport and DNI do take up to one year, do you think it's...
I'm leaning more towards citizenship if it's really that much easier! My only issue is I'd like to have some sort of residency/citizenship status preferably with a passport before entering Argentina so I can just go there and live. If I were to apply for citizenship once I got to argentina, how...
Hi everyone!
I'm eligible for Argentine citizenship or permanent residency (my mother was born in Argentina) and was wondering what advice you guys who are already on the ground could give me regarding which would be better for me to get. I've done some research, but I've never lived there...
Unfortunately having dual citizenship could have implications on my future job so that's not really an option, and I just want to live there for a little while. Thanks for all the advice though!
Why wouldn't I want to move there, at least for a little while? I probably wouldn't stay more than a year (or more if I felt like it), it's not like I want to live there permanently. I want the residency status because I have friends living there on a tourist visa and life is much easier with a...
Thank you for all the advice everyone, this has been very helpful! I will definitely come back to these boards once I'm in BA, seems like we have a great community of expats hehe.
I'm not too worried about dealing with the bureaucracy, I lived in France... I'm not sure bureaucracy gets much...
I asked my grandmother and she said she had my mom's birth certificate somewhere... I really hope she does or this will be difficult!
I'm guessing I would have to convince her to go get a DNI so I could file for permanent residency... I think I can do this at the L.A. consulate and it doesn't...
Thanks for all the info.
I don't think my mom has a DNI, I don't even think she knows if she's still a citizen (although I'm sure she is...) so I'm not even sure how I would go about proving it! My mom moved here when she was 5 years old. My grandma I'm sure would know more about that stuff, but...
Hello everyone,
I'm graduating college soon and would like to move to Argentina for a while to work (preferably with official working status). I was wondering if there's any way I can get any sort of temporary resident status/working visa because my mom was born in Argentina? Is there any sort...
