    Well, where do I start....

No, what I mean is that based on your comments thus far it's my opinion that all of your assumptions of Argentine life in Buenos Aires thus far line up with reality and your expectations are likely to be reasonably met. What remains now are the logistics of your visit down here to confirm that...

    Well, where do I start....

You're on the money. At this stage I would book the flight to confirm your assumptions, and stay long enough (if possible) to confirm them again after the honeymoon wears off.

    Well, where do I start....

I enjoyed reading how you defined the cultural differences. It's not always easy to explain. Yes, you'll find every bit of that here in Argentina as well. The next question is where in Mexico did you live? Buenos Aires is a dense urban area, with much of the problems endemic to them - wealth...

    Well, where do I start....

Howdy JJ, When did you visit Argentina? Where did you stay? What was it like for you? That might help us tell you what's the same and what's different since your last visit.

    A break on supermarket prices

I used to shop at Coto back in the day and then eventually started going to a mayorista instead. The mayorista requires I buy 3 of each item to qualify for the discount (usually 20%). Well, not too long ago I went to Coto and was surprised by all the discounts offered. 2 for 1, 3 for 2, 40% off...

Where do American expats live in Argentina?

Nobody has caught on yet...a lot of the new residential towers being built are half empty. But once they are all occupied, the reality will set in that street parking will be virtually impossible. Private rentals of their house garages will also be a new revenue for jubilados.

Where do American expats live in Argentina?

An incredible amount of construction happening in Neuquen right now. I'm on my 4th year in Neuquen and the skyline is changing annually. I was shocked by the amount of construction in Bariloche as well. Entire complexes with hundreds of units under construction when I last visited. I keep...

Citizenship and migration DNU declared unconstitutional June 30th 2026

Excellent news and not far behind the US Supreme Court's denial of Trumps attack on Jus Solis citizenship. I hope it serves to teach both of these egotists that the executive branch is not above the legislative process.

Why off-duty cops in second jobs ‘kill and die more’ in recession-hit Argentina

I have 3 retired cops that help me now and then with my properties. One of them hasn't fully been retired, though he's off-duty awaiting status change. Ever during this interim period he refuses to turn in his issued gun because he feels exposed without it. I suppose it's a source of comfort...

    Betting pool for Adorni's resignation

We all won a front row seat to the next political scandal. Waiting for His Royal Highness Milei to acknowledge that pesky fly in his ear called the Supreme Court and toss a few devalued pesos to the universities. Get your popcorn ready...

The awful state of our economy

Fast fashion has gotten so bad that online shopping addicts now have fake apps where you can simulate buying the clothes except no actual clothes are being purchased. This apparently tricks the brain into releasing the dopamine associated with impulsive purchases while allowing addicts to...

The awful state of our economy

Fast fashion changed the landscape. Times are accelerating in just about every medium measurable, climate included. It's no surprise that quality has gone out the window for the cheap thrill of the latest trend.

Has Argentina Become Worse Or Better for Foreign Retirees recently?

You know what Taiwan doesn't seem to offer...a pathway to permanent residency for digital nomads or retirees. Otherwise, we're just talking about a 90 day vacation for retirees or 2 years for digital nomads with no option to renew.

    Seguros de Caución/Contract Change

That's a really dirty move on behalf of the inmobilaria. The first thing I would do is contact the Seguro company and explain what happened. Find out if you have refund or transfer option. If not, you may have grounds to pursue damages against the Inmobilaria.
