There's a large Jewish store on the corner of Jose Cabrera and Gallo, I believe. It's a block away from Av. Cordoba.

Just don't put any $$ or valuables in your check-in luggage. The customs "inspectors" are known for taking things out of suitcases before you receive them. A few days ago 15 of these "chorros" were taken in.

The place by Abasto mall is Mamani, on Agüero and Lavalle. Great and abundant food, and good prices. Each dish is probably enough for 2 people.

Having been born and raised in Chile, one can compare, and the police there are respected and they enforce the "common sense" rules. Here there is a lack of respect for the police as they don't do much to enforce the rules. Sad that people have to lose their lives...:(
