    Recommendations for medical insurance?

Hola a todos We're spending a small fortune on medical insurance, and I get the feeling we're spending far more than we need to. Does anyone have any good recommendations for a family plan - two adults (early 30s) and a newborn? Currently have a mixture of OSDE & CEMIC, and OSDE is just too...

Re: Taxi Drivers - sharp practice

If you hail a taxi in the street make sure you get a marked company taxi - one with a sign on the top of the cab, and a company marked on the rear passenger doors. Much less likely to have problems. Non marked cabs are independents - unaccountable and answerable to nobody (afaik). Have never had...

U.S..Citizens - why did you move to Buenos Aires?

I spent nearly two years planning our move here. Reasons to move included great job opportunities, having friends already here, being financially secure and being interested in the culture and language. It was a well planned move and we're dead happy. If we didn't have friends, financial...

    Friendliness of Argentines?

I've had great experiences. My colleagues have been great, and have been very patient with my limited spanish. I've made argentine friends quickly through shared interest, and have been warmly welcomed by the families and partners of my expat friends here. Much friendlier than london IMO.

    Tough Times Ahead?

Not really. Just different hands in the cookie jar, taking billions rather than the odd fistful of dollars here and there.Back to the original question - wannabe expats looking for a cheap way to live the high life might have to rethink how they will support themselves. No big deal.

    EXPATS BOYCOTT ARGENTINE TRAVEL

Sunny days difficult to get the best out of in an office. Still, loving the sunshine, although the cold snap has caught me off guard a little... The UN definition is the closest you'll find to the legal definition, and I'm afraid its also the generally accepted defition across the world...

    EXPATS BOYCOTT ARGENTINE TRAVEL

Bless. You're right though kid, words do indeed have meanings. Here's a highlight from the wiki-link you were just too darn clever to bother reading: According to the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, 'the term "racial discrimination"...

    EXPATS BOYCOTT ARGENTINE TRAVEL

Are you actually making an effort to appear stupid? First off, your authoritative collection of web based definitions of racism incorporates the common legally accepted definition of racism which is prejudice based on race or ethnicity - which includes nationality. Kind of invalidates your...

    EXPATS BOYCOTT ARGENTINE TRAVEL

Jesus wept. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RacismSorry to burst your bubble, but making crude ugly statements based on nationality qualifies as racism. Do some homework kid.

    EXPATS BOYCOTT ARGENTINE TRAVEL

Fishface - my post was not directed at you, I took exception to this: "But as we know, Argentines are the greediest people there are and if they can find a way to screw someone over, they certainly will."I found this racist and offensive. As were his other comments in other posts about argetines...

    EXPATS BOYCOTT ARGENTINE TRAVEL

In Spain, locals get much cheaper internal flights than tourists. I can't remember if its a government subsidy that tourists obviously don't qualify for, a national right associated with national carriers or just a policy decision of the carrier to incentivise locals to take more domestic...

Emigrating: London to BA - Econ forecasts & positive stories?

HiFirst off, ignore the negative comments here. Although its much more human to complain than praise its a real shame because it presents an unrepresentative picture of life here. I moved from london a month back, been planning my move here for a year. Girlfriend is joining me in another month...

    Bringing electronic equipment into BA

quick update....Got everything through fine. Had some machines in my suitcase they didn't even bother looking at - the fact they were clingfilmed shut might have helped. Had loads of stuff in my hand luggage - laptop, camera, phone, walkman, mp3 player, external HD, DS lite and they took...
