Migraciones Appointment - Can I Bring Translation Help?

After waiting about a month, someone at work called her friend who works there who was able to look it up in the system, and that friend advised us that we needed to go back to Migraciones because "there was a problem." For some reason, I needed to show my job contract again, then there was...

Migraciones Appointment - Can I Bring Translation Help?

I'm lucky in that I had an HR rep from my job here to help me navigate the language issues, and the lawyer that my company retains gave us direction when it came to immigration and bank items. There are translators and immigration specialists that can help you, I see tons of translators...

Migraciones Appointment - Can I Bring Translation Help?

I finally got back to Migraciones for my post-DNI follow up visit - and they told me there was nothing else to do, I was finished. I have my precaria, my CUIL, I am registered with AFIP and I have a DNI, that's it. *shrugs* When I got my Precaria there about 2 months ago they were very clear...

Migraciones Appointment - Can I Bring Translation Help?

How long has yours been in the "su trámite está para supervisar" stage? If it has been a very long time it might be worth going down to Migraciones to see what the problem is. Bring all the paperwork you have with you. My friend-of-a-friend "inside contact" at Migraciones was able to let us...

Migraciones Appointment - Can I Bring Translation Help?

I'm going for a 2 year work residency. Having already started the process (back in March) I was able to use my employment contract to get a temporary CUIL from ANSES and open a bank account, and now with my DNI I have a permanent CUIL. I need to have my temp CUIL combined with my permanent...

    High-Quality Olive Oil

Restaurant UCO, in Hotel Fierro (on Soler in Palermo Hollywood) does olive oil tastings now. Really good stuff. I know that's not exactly answering your question, but if you're into premium olive oils you may want to check it out.

Migraciones Appointment - Can I Bring Translation Help?

DNI is in hand now! A colleague at my office has a friend at Migraciones that was keeping an eye on the progress for me and contacted her to come get it when it was finished, which saved me the trouble of having to be present when Correo Argentino would try to deliver it. Now to proceed...

    Uber Banned

They know the pickup point, but they do not know the destination, correct? I suspect they must have been worried about a pick-up at Abasto having a far away destination or something. We simply could not get one to come get us.

    Uber Banned

Apparently Uber drivers do not like the Abasto shopping mall. We had 5 cancellations in a row a couple weekends ago and eventually had to use a taxi off the street. Some of the Ubers even got 90% of the way to our location before cancelling. Weird.

Everything About Sending Money Out Of Argentina

Just wanted to say that I have recently been successful in transferring money from my Argentine "salary account" to my bank in the US via wire transfer. It was surprisingly fast - took 1 day for me. Cost me around 2%, which was more than the published fees... I don't yet have my DNI, but...

Migraciones Appointment - Can I Bring Translation Help?

Hey, that one works for me! I used the short number on my precaria that ends in 2017, and was able to see results. Mine says "Estado: Su trámite fue resuelto el 15/05/2017" so maybe it's on its way...

Migraciones Appointment - Can I Bring Translation Help?

They gave me two of the same receipt, so I left one with the doorman. Then, the security company changed and my receipt did not survive the transfer. The one i have left is not leaving my grip! None of the numbers on my receipt produce results on that DNI status lookup, unfortch.

    Argentina As Seen By Foreigners

When I was here for my first few weeks I couldn't understand why the milk went bad so quickly. After just 2-4 days it smelled terrible. I remember thinking "what the hell is up with the milk here?!". Then my wife got here and asked me why I had the refrigerator temperature set so high...

Migraciones Appointment - Can I Bring Translation Help?

Well, it's been a month and a half and still no DNI. Now I'm waiting in various lines at Migraciones so I can be told I'm in the wrong line and need to go to another. Rinse, repeat. All part of the experience, I'm told.

    Uber Banned

Used Uber this past weekend, both to and from Mercado San Telmo from Palermo. I've always had good luck with the taxis here, but it's being able to pay via CC on the Uber app that draws me to it.

    Uber Update?

I used an Uber today simply because I was out of cash and didn't have my ATM card on me. It seems that only a small minority of taxis in BA take credit cards. Can I get a taxi that take plastic via EZCab or something like that?

Migraciones Appointment - Can I Bring Translation Help?

I went today and was able to convince my company's lawyer to go with me. My Spanish isn't very good, so that was helpful, and he knew the buildings to go through and to and which lines to get in, and the windows in various buildings to pay for the different tramites, which I see as something...
