How widely available is fibre optic in CABA, other than San Telmo? Anyone got it in Palermo? After enquiring of Claro, Movistar and iPlan (all fibre optic), none are available for our place...yet. So for now it leaves the rather empty choice of Personal or Telecentro.

No. As far as I know, it only works for Visa and Mastercard. One further tip...bring a Visa or Mastercard debit/credit that charges no fees on overseas transactions. Most will charge a further 3% on foreign exchange. Several banks in Australia now offer cards with no fees on overseas...
