Is the Argentine Economy Going to Collapse?

Incidentally after my post wondering why the US succeeded while Argentina didn't, I found this link to a Financial Times piece in the Articles section here. http://www.ft.com/cms/s/2/778193e4-44d8-11de-82d6-00144feabdc0.html An intelligent analysis which suggests it was the way land was first...

Is the Argentine Economy Going to Collapse?

Speaking as a non-American who has travelled most of the world, I have little time for conspiracy theories. Sure, the US (or any other nation and most individuals) would like to get its way by almost any means; I only question the ability. Most people are stupid - and that includes most...

Is the Argentine Economy Going to Collapse?

I really hope that Argentina will live up to its undoubted potential - and not having the US's terrifying levels of debt should help. But the potential has always been there and never seems to come to fruition - I was just wondering why that should be.

Is the Argentine Economy Going to Collapse?

So you believe Argentinians have a standard of living equivalent to the US - take a look around you. I'm no apologist for the US; I'm not even American, but to suggest the country is in thrall to some sort of spooky conspiracy is frankly fanciful.

Is the Argentine Economy Going to Collapse?

Argentina and The US have plenty in common - lots of land, raw materials, great for agriculture, immigrant populations from all over the old world, well-educated middle class. Why is one the richest and most powerful nation on Earth, while the other staggers from one crisis to the next...

Deadly Swine Flu paralyses Mexico City

The media stoked this up out of practically nothing. Thousands die from flu every winter, even in developed countries. By all accounts this is a particularly mild strain; only the very old or very young need worry at all.

Argentina and Great Britain Diplomatic Spat

I'm English, my wife is Argentinian. We agree to disagree and don't get upset if the topic comes up. I occassionally tease her that the British embassy is pushing its walls outward to gradually take over the whole of Buenos Aires. Frankly, it's history. If the people there want to be...

Deadly Swine Flu paralyses Mexico City

Now arrived in Spain, I hear, but people in developed countries seem to be surviving. I wonder how well we'd handle bubonic plague if it made a come-back.

    Food revolution bypasses Buenos Aires

Thanks for the info. Still, I would have thought there was enough demand for at least one shop specialising in Brit (or US, or Ozzy) food in a city this size.

But remember the Avian flu non-pandemic? And birds can fly... pigs might, I suppose.

    Food revolution bypasses Buenos Aires

Interesting thread. Most countries I've lived in (France, Denmark... ) there are shops you can get English food - Colman's mustard, Branston pickle, that sort of stuff. Never found ANYWHERE to buy Brit food in BA - have I missed somewhere??
