    Fluoride in the water?

Here is a fairly pricey option for those that have more dollars than sense. http://www.blingh2o.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=95 By the way a lot of bottled around the world really just comes from the municipal water system that the bottling company is attached to. I agree a Brita or...

    Frigidaire Gallery Refrigerator-Import from US

If you don't get any expat bites don't forget the locals. Compared to whats available locally American appliances are considered high end. There is considerable interest in them. I sold a five year old used side by side there for more money than I paid for it new.

Been down here 3 months and got beat-up & mugged

Sorry it happened but Bradyhale is correct. Its just human nature for people not to listen. It reminds me of parents warning their children not to play near the cactus in Arizona. The children rarely heed the advice and sooner or later fall into a patch. However, once they have fallen in and...

    Shipping by Boat

Sorry but are you serious? You want to spend lots of dollars to ship used books and clothing? It will almost certainly be cheaper to leave these items behind and replace them once back in the states versus the cost of shipping.

    Job Offer in Buenos Aires

Another option for the OP is to look for a U.S. firm that has foreign assignments. I personally would rather work for a U.S. company overseas making $60K than moving to another country and working for a local company at low local wages. Also many U.S. companies will pay your way through graduate...

U$D vs Pesos hit 4.3 to 1 yesterday!

Good point the peso should fall if the dollar gains strength, but you have to remember the government likes to intervene and manipulate the value of the peso. They can do this short-term but I doubt they could stop a big drop over an extended period.

    Job Offer in Buenos Aires

I looked this up and the personal exemption was only $7500 according to the link below. Hard to believe if correct the exemption went from $7500 to almost $72000. Could somebody post the AFIP link showing the new amount. Thanks...

    Job Offer in Buenos Aires

That's a big change, wasn't aware. Before I believe the personal exemption was only $9000 pesos per year. They have effectively raised it to nearly $72000 pesos a year?

    Job Offer in Buenos Aires

Just to point out this doesn't include income taxes, quite high in Argentina. Total deductions including taxes can come close to 50% of a paycheck in Argentina. In this case its probably going to be 35 to 40%.

    Job Offer in Buenos Aires

I would question some of the advice being given. People are saying you'll be fine on $5k a month, that's his gross, not his net. He can expect close to half his pay to be withheld for taxes and other payroll contributions. Optimistically I think he can expect to take home about $3k a month. That...

U$D vs Pesos hit 4.3 to 1 yesterday!

These predictions are from the end of April and don't look too good at the moment 2 weeks from when they were made. The pound is now at 1.61 and the Euro at 1.41 down from about 1.48 at the time. Whats driving this today is as there won't be a QE3 for now and the suddenly very shaky looking...

Peso up to 4.13 - Collapse Finally Here?

An interesting article on worries from Canada on weakening demand from China for commodities. If demand does drop significantly then its probable that commodity prices could fall dramatically. If this happens most commodity countries including Argentina will feel the impact along with a drop...

Peso up to 4.13 - Collapse Finally Here?

Thanks but I don't deserve the prize. I am only commenting on an earlier post that basically stated I was wrong because the Australian dollar is or near its all-time high. All I meant to say is that all-time highs frequently result in serious corrections or represent something that is seriously...

Peso up to 4.13 - Collapse Finally Here?

All bubbles burst when the underlining asset is at or near its all-time high. Time will tell who is right but should look at where commodity demand in the recent past has come from(i.e. China) and what's happening there now and whats likely in the future. That's why I say its the area of the...

Peso up to 4.13 - Collapse Finally Here?

But in fact they all did fall in the last week. If commodity prices continue to fall then all of these currencies will keep falling against the dollar.

Peso up to 4.13 - Collapse Finally Here?

You can remind me of your graph in the future if you are correct. I will happily point to yours if you are wrong. We need a few more weeks of results to see who is correct. There are many people who hope you are right. My advice is don't get sucked into economic positions based on your political...

Peso up to 4.13 - Collapse Finally Here?

I wasn't in Argentina 40 years ago so I can't comment directly but Argentina certainly has suffered from declining fortunes for the last 100 years. If Argentina had done something like Chile creating a stabilization fund(i.e. socked money away when prices are high to carry them in period when...

Peso up to 4.13 - Collapse Finally Here?

I think people may be missing the point. Last week commodity prices crashed, we will have to see if this actually the bursting of the bubble, it looks like it but things like this can only be judged from after the event. If it is a burst bubble then indeed Argentina has a big problem along with...

Peso up to 4.13 - Collapse Finally Here?

The move probably is the result of the big fall in commodity prices last week.
