Question about Real Estate in the US ( laws )

Assuming you don't have a will it would go to the husband, if you both die the kids would inherit. If you have a will you can specify who gets what, doesn't even have to be somebody in the family. Big difference with Argentina where I believe the kids would inherit automatically with you having...

Clarin & La Nacion blocked from operatring as usual

Here is an article in English reviewing this situation. Can't believe this guy is so arrogant and dumb to say all this stuff without realizing they might be recording it. http://en.mercopress.com/2011/04/05/pickets-leader-demanding-extortion-sum-from-clarin-captured-on-video

Clarin & La Nacion blocked from operatring as usual

When you read a lot of these comments, particularly those from people who are apparently Argentinians I really have to fear for the future of the country. The objective of the blockade is obvious and the hand of the government and their corrupt cronies is clearly evident. Yet there are people...

Real estate offices: how do they work?

I don't think this is what he meant. When he says demographic he's talking about income level, family size, how are properties paid for, financed, etc. that would allow you to analyze the real estate market in general on a objective basis.

Real estate offices: how do they work?

Even sectors effect each other. In a high end neighborhood when selling a seller must find a buyer. If I live in a less expensive area and want to move up I still have to sell my place before I can buy yours. If I can't sell mine because people can't afford it then I won't be able to buy yours...

Real estate offices: how do they work?

No I think you are missing the point. The article wasn't talking about any specific area of B.A. but average cost in the city of B.A. overall versus average income overall. If people have a dollar to spend and what you have costs a dollar you will make some sales. If you raise your prices to $2...

Real estate offices: how do they work?

I agree fear of inflation is probably driving things now. My point is that this will eventually pass and then real demand and incomes will determine the price. Prices gets too high for incomes, demand slows, prices will eventually fall relative to incomes and eventually return to some...

Real estate offices: how do they work?

Well depending on who you talk to I guess but the $173k is from National Association of Realtors. Don't know what would account for the difference. You could be right that they are talking about a single person, the article in Spanish indicates that, but the article in English states they are...

Real estate offices: how do they work?

No, just saw the article that indicates it would take a 100 paychecks for an average family to buy the average property in B.A. which indicates its very unaffordable. I think it is worth pointing this out to people that own property or plan on buying. If you don't agree that's its not affordable...

Real estate offices: how do they work?

I think real estate as a storehouse of wealth only works only if there is real demand and income to support the demand. Doesn't matter where it is. In Argentina prices have gotten extremely rich versus incomes which would seem at some point will reduce demand and then finally prices.

Real estate offices: how do they work?

Actually your off on your numbers quite a bit. The average family median income is a little north of 50K and the average median price in 2010 was $173k. Roughly then in the states on average a house today is equal to about 3x annual income. Most measures consider 3x annual salary affordable...

    Filing taxes

It really comes down to your own personal expertise and complexity of your tax situation that dictates which way a person should handle theirs.

Real estate offices: how do they work?

Slightly off subject but affordability of real estate in B.A. is quite low. Who is buying, I know somebody is going to write back and say there is plenty of money and this is the only place to invest, that real estate is cheap compared to..., etc. etc. But really shouldn't this be a warning...

    Filing taxes

Whoa! Lets explain this one more time. If you live full-time in another country any money you earn there from a U.S. employer would be exempt from taxation on the first $91,500. The key is that you live in the foreign country the requisite number of days in a year. Where your payment comes from...

    Filing taxes

Good, do it both ways and submit the one that puts the most money in your pocket.

    Filing taxes

Lee's right you could just pretend you never left the states and file, but taking the foreign income exclusion eliminates any income tax on the first $91,500 you make. If when you figured it on turbo-tax it may be that you didn't owe any money anyway, if that's the case you don't have to bother...

    Filing taxes

I can see your confusion. I believe the correct answer is that she is living abroad and she earned the money while living abroad therefor she would qualify for the exclusion. The fact that she is working for an employer in Florida doesn't really matter. Many many people work overseas for...

Argentina on the cusp of hyperinflation

I agree, the U.S. has to get its financial house in order. This needs to start happening now and over the next couple of years. There is going to have to be some big cuts and some tax increases. If nothing has changed in a couple of years then I would start to worry. I not a big fan of gold or...

    Passport woes for Newborns

Your right you will need a Argentine passport. I know this can be a big hassle. Good luck, let us know what happens. http://argentina.usembassy.gov/traveling_with_children.html Even so I will be sure to register their births so they maintain U.S. citizenship.
