    Chavez wins journalism award...

The more I think about this the more disturbing it is. This is one most cynical acts I think I have ever seen. Giving Hugo a press freedom award is like giving Hitler the humanitarian of the century award for his work in the 20th century. This is really shameful and the people involved should be...

How much would you pay for this apartment?

Sounds like a bargain to me if you compare to Manhattan. B.A. is the same thing as NYC, right?

Argentina ready to cut deal with Iran, to forget about the bombings

Well and good, but if true why not some statement from the government? If its all nonsense why don't they come out and say so?

Clarin & La Nacion blocked from operatring as usual

    Its called crony capitalism.

    Chavez wins journalism award...

Good point the only people at fault for creating Chavez are the people who failed to address the long standing problems there that which in effect opened the door for him. He is keeping in power basically by buying the poor vote through social programs and subsidies(sound familiar). As he is...

Clarin & La Nacion blocked from operatring as usual

Go back to the farmers strike and remember when the government had their thugs break-up peaceful demonstrations. Try having a large demonstration on something the government doesn't agree with and I bet the police or their thugs would break it up in a heartbeat.

Clarin & La Nacion blocked from operatring as usual

Because even if they have a valid complain it doesn't give them the right to block distribution of newspapers. If they have a grievance it should be pursued in a court of law. The police should have removed them immediately. The problem is the governments selective enforcement of the law which...

Clarin & La Nacion blocked from operatring as usual

I haven't read all the comments closely but I don't remember anybody particularly taking sides other than some trying to paint this as a labor dispute. To me the labor dispute even if real is irrelevant. The fact that the government through selectively enforcing laws is threatening the freedom...

Argentina ready to cut deal with Iran, to forget about the bombings

If there were no truth to the allegations you would have expected the government to have denied the reports by now, all I have heard so far is silence. Makes you think that they did do a deal with Iran.

Clarin & La Nacion blocked from operatring as usual

Fairly creative interpretation of events. First I don't really know anything about the labor dispute or do I care. If there is a judgment against Clarin then the government should enforce it. Even if they haven't the people blocking delivery should be in a court room not illegally blocking...

Clarin & La Nacion blocked from operatring as usual

Sorry, but I think this kind of thinking is both wrong and dangerous. Democracy is more than just voting for one person. Its rule of law, independent judiciary, functioning legislative branches of government, etc. What this comment implies is that we shouldn't worry about minor incursions that...

Clarin & La Nacion blocked from operatring as usual

Maybe not but this is still what these people would like. The old plan of trading off with Nestor isn't operable anymore. If she wins big maybe they will try to abolish term limits like they have done a few countries here recently. I am not really worried about it as I think the whole thing will...

Argentina ready to cut deal with Iran, to forget about the bombings

The answer is obvious the Iranian government is protecting these people. A lot of evidence has been gathered over the years pointing at Iran. Hard to bring them to justice or resolve fully when they can't be extradited and tried in a court of law.

Argentina ready to cut deal with Iran, to forget about the bombings

Could be, I doubt Timmerman is acting on his own without the agreement of the head of the government. Given the crazy seizure of cargo from the U.S. aircraft a few weeks ago and now this(assuming it is in fact confirmed) you have to wonder whats going on. What message is the Argentine government...

Argentina ready to cut deal with Iran, to forget about the bombings

Well its obvious Argentina is in the Hugo camp like it or not. Doesn't mean that they align exactly with everything Hugo says but they are definitely on the same page. In Iran Hugo is practically an honorary ayatollah. Not surprising Argentina would try to use these relationships to get closer...

Argentina ready to cut deal with Iran, to forget about the bombings

Kind of makes sense for this government as they have close ties to Chavez who is one of the few leaders in the world with friendly relations with Iran.

Argentina questions allied attacks on Gaddafi

Your right the number of civilians injured or killed in Libya is minimal if any. The government there has been repeatably embarrassed when they have taken out reporters to prove the opposite. One thing is sure a lot more people would be dead today if nothing had been done. Whether in the end...

    Change in expat attitudes?

I agree I think up until 4 or 5 years ago you could still smoke in hospitals. The fact this is generally obeyed is remarkable as the national pastime seems to be to flaunt all rules and regulations. For the most part you could consider Argentina to be the wild west but with no sheriff.

    Big trouble help!!!

You must be living right, bleach should work on a white wall, but if it had been another color the bleach probably would have taken a lot of the pigment with it. If for some reason it does have to be re-painted you would need to prime the areas where the stains are or when you apply the paint...
