How much of a problem is the language barrier in your daily life as an expat?

Been in Buenos Aires two years now and have made pretty substantial progress (somewhere between B1-B2). I studied Spanish in high school but that was a billion years ago and probably never progressed past A2. I'm a bit of a parrot and am picking up the porteño accent (for a yanqui anyway). As...

Best Yoga Studio in Palermo? Can be English or Spanish.

I often go to Mood Yoga. If you like Vinyasa, Elie and Beta are my favorite teachers. There's also Kurunta classes with Vera that are different but fun. The best yoga classes I've taken have been with private teachers though

How's everyone hanging in there with the cost of living these days?

I didn't get alerts on this thread, but very interesting discussion everyone!

    Where to find good coffee

I am not sure if this is still relevant, but for anyone looking to buy good coffee beans that aren't Starbucks and aren't the insanity of Juan Valdez prices, Eurocafé is solid and fairly priced.

How's everyone hanging in there with the cost of living these days?

Hi all, I've been in Buenos Aires for almost two years now—I love it, and I have no intention of leaving anytime soon. But oof, the dollar's purchasing power has certainly gone down under Milei. Just curious for those of you who have been here for a while... how ya hangin' in there? What do...

    Where to find good coffee

No, this is a real thing – I recently had a conversation with a local friend about how the quality of coffee has gone down (as the cost of goods gets more expensive) I've opted to drink more americanos/long blacks to actually to be able to taste the coffee. As for coffee shops, Clorindo is...

New official exchange rate: 800 pesos per dollar

Help me out here – in my mind, I saw that and thought, "Oh, there's more incentive to use my card now because the tarjeta dollar buys more pesos now," but looking at my transactions, it still looks like the 950 rate. Do we think credit card companies (Visa, in this case) will catch up to the...

My experience extending tourist visitor visa - Ask Me Anything (AMA)

So, I went back and checked a few hours after submitting it. I definitely did the 90-day tourist extension and got the document... looks like they just added more steps in recent months. Chalk it up to more bad UX on a government website 😆

My experience extending tourist visitor visa - Ask Me Anything (AMA)

Yeah, that part was the same... when I entered my info I was sent to another screen where it was prefilled with some information and blank in others. I removed my info but here's the screenshot

My experience extending tourist visitor visa - Ask Me Anything (AMA)

Disregard. I figured it out. I just had to download a pdf of my transit history and upload it. That movement date from 1899 really threw me off though.

My experience extending tourist visitor visa - Ask Me Anything (AMA)

So, I received this 9-digit number as well... was given no other directions, and when I get to the screen it has several prompts, including Disposición (blank), Fecha de Movimiento (30/12/1899) Fecha vencimiento Precaria: (blank) Fecha renovación Precaria: (blank). If I skip forward without...

Denied Digital Nomad Visa - My Experience

Good luck - when I applied in November the site was really buggy and then they lost my application for three months https://www.argentina.gob.ar/servicio/tramitacion-de-ingreso-electronica-nomadas-digitales

    Is Buenos Aires REALLY dangerous?

I know there's a lot of responses here, but I think safety is a personal definition. I moved here from Detroit, so to me, no gunshots and less sexual harassment automatically makes me feel more safe. That's doesn't mean I can't be targeted, but I'm used to living with my head on a swivel. I...

Denied Digital Nomad Visa - My Experience

Great, thanks for your input and sharing this recent thread. It's been curious to watch that unfold. So it sounds like the best course of action is not to renew my tourist visa, overstay by six months, pay the overstay fee when I leave, and when I return after visiting the states in September...

Denied Digital Nomad Visa - My Experience

That's a very good point! I'm worried I might be already 'flagged' in the system, but I guess I will just hope for the best!

Denied Digital Nomad Visa - My Experience

Hey all, I haven't seen anyone write on this (correct me if I'm wrong), so I thought I'd share my experience. As most of you probably assumed, the digital nomad visa process isn't very transparent. To this day, I can't find any information about timeframes or anyone who has successfully...
