    You can open a Citibank account online, even if there are no branches in your state (as mine in Washington). You can treat it as an online bank, but still have a Citi ATM card.

    I've been watching Xoom daily and their rate seems to lag the official rate by a day or two. When the peso is increasing (against the dollar), Xoom is lower. When the peso is going down, Xoom is higher. I think for the convenience, Xoom is still the best option for US bank accounts.

    Another possibility, as yet untested by me, is PayPal2Cash - http://paypal2cash.com I'd love to get a firsthand account. No transaction fee, like Xoom, but at a lower conversion rate.
