    I made an unnecessary problem.

Here's how Ricky Gervais in the Netflix series "Afterlife" dealt with two punks demanding money: Of course I'm not suggesting you smash anyone in the head with a can of dog food, but I can say that I greatly enjoyed watching the series.

Food prices are amongst the highest of the planet

They also woke up to find out the government had confiscated most of the dollars held in bank accounts, creating an economic crisis of epic porportions and few dollars for the people to convert at any rate...

Food prices are amongst the highest of the planet

Having already read what you wrote at the end of your post, I think it's time that the entire audience of the forum, especially any of the members who may not be fully aware of what expats with families trying to live on local salaries or retired expats wirh low dollar incomes are dealing with...

    Western Union money transfer

Possibly not as happy for me now as you were a number of years ago (perhaps before there were any promo codes) when Western Union was charging me zero transfer fees, month after month, after month, after month, after month, after month?

    Citizenship question

Hopefully, the two years of continuous presence and a DNI will be enough for the court to at least consider your application for citizenship (without being represented by a lawyer) but, unless the current "conditions" change, you will not be able to ask migraciones for what is known as the...

    Western Union money transfer

For the past two months (including today), I have "automatically" recieved a $10.00 discount on the previously charged transfer fee for every amount I have entered to transfer (from $200 to $800 USD), without having to enter a promo code.

What are the cultural aspects that make you stay in Argentina?

I love the "culture" of the Argentine people, at least where I live. I have had no face to face interaction whatsoever with any other expats since May 29 2010 (at an "expat lunch" which I organized). I have not set foot in or anywhere near Capital Federal since June 24, 2010. All of my...

    Citizenship question

You are most welcome. If my information is correct, the two year "residency" requirement for citizenship started the day that you first set foot on Argentne soil, but you probably won't be able to apply for citizenship without a lawyer before you satisfy the two year residency (aka: "physical...

    Citizenship question

You need a lawyer who is familiar with the process to present your case.... Ideally, a lawyer with many years (15 for example) experience in these type of cases and a "track record" of success. You must also be prepared to spend thousands of dollars for the legal servives, without any...

Plastic straws banned in BA restaurants.

Plastic pollution is a "petro-problem" we can make ourselves feel better about by doing things like banning plastic straws. Nonetheless, we are living on a "poisoned planet" and the damage is most likely (if not undoubtedly) already permanent, but the "chemical industry" alone may be...

What's behind the recent blue dollar price surge?

Bovine cows(f) and bulls(m) are bred (intentionally) to produce different breeds of cattle. The cows of one breed will produce more milk than the cows of other breeds and they become more widely used for this purpose. . All cattle produce beef and that meat can be used to feed other animals...

I'm in Argentina with tourist visa!

All $ figures on the migraciones website are in pesos, but the number you saw is very old. The chances of getting an investor visa are slim at any level of investment that a tourist would likely be able to pay. If you search the entire forum using the key words "investor visa" and search in...

    Citizenship vs becoming tax resident

I believe you have to get citizenship first. You can probably get a DNI and permanent residency sooner. I believe that depends on how much time you spend in Argentina each year Unfortunately, my accountant would be too far from CF to recommend.

    Tourist visa extension denied

BC_2 always recommends the ovestay...never a border run...which, technically, you have already done.

    Tourist visa extension denied

You don't/won't have to say anything about "coming back" to migraciones when you leave, even if someone scolds.you for the overstay (possible but not highly likely). If there is an issue with migraciones when you try to reenter, don't say you are a tourist. Instead, say, as BC_2 indicated, that...

Food prices are amongst the highest of the planet

These are all excellent observations, but I think it would be fair (as well as more accurate) to substitute the word "people" in the first sentence of your post with "some expats" and also substitute the word "they" with "some" at the start of each of the sentences that follow.

    What happens after USD $12,000?

Is the pensionada visa (which grants temporary residency) still granted for one year at a time and has to be renewed annually, at least the first three times? Previously, the pensionada visa could (with the approval of migraciones) be converted to permanent residency on the thrid renewal. I...

    What happens after USD $12,000?

Just to be clear, you are asking about physically bringing USD into the country, not about the monthly amount that you must transfer or "send" to your Argentine bank account to compy with the conditions of your temporary residency?

Anybody else notice coffee recently not tasting good?

Last week I saw the same coffee in the local supermarket for $5,800 per 150 gr bag. Today's lowest price for one kilo of this coffee on Mercado Libre is $31.999 with free shipping. That equals a price of $4,800 per 150 gr. I stocked up when a 170 gr frasco (glass jar) was about $1.200. At the...
