Hoping to move soon to Argentina, here for immigration advice

Have you seen any of the YouTube videos of the Argentine pensióneros/pensionistas standing in line for hours to use an ATM to withdraw $40.000 pesos so they can pay for some fruits amd vegetables from a verduria or buy something from another business without having to pay the IVA? At one point...

Hoping to move soon to Argentina, here for immigration advice

Even though David clused his business almost 15 years ago, corruption at the local level can still run rampant in major metropolitan areas. A friend of mine who has a three storefront businesses in Punta Alta told me he doesn't have any problems with those in power but he knows some in Bahia...

Hoping to move soon to Argentina, here for immigration advice

PS: Investing in Argentine bonds that can be bought and sold as desired isn't something I've ever heard of as a path to temporary residency. The assets that produce the passive monthly income for the visa rentista are supposed to be stable and untouchable, as well as foreign.

Hoping to move soon to Argentina, here for immigration advice

I am certain that buying real estate will not create a path to temporary residency and if it ever did, that would have ended decades ago. Nonetheless, migraciones includes the "investor visa* as a possible option, but I am not familiar with the current requirements. However, simply "investing"...

Hoping to move soon to Argentina, here for immigration advice

I meant to say to first deposit enough cash to fund the visa for at least one year into a new personal bank account and then transfer them in a lumpsum to the trust account. The the bank will then make monthly transfers to the personal account that can be sent directly to the Argentine bank...

Is Argentina Still a Good Deal?

As I posted in the "price of meat will skyrocket" thread exactly one month ago: "My cost of living, calculated in dollars (converted to pesos via monthly WU transfers) for food (roast beef, pork chops, eggs and lard), coffee, drinking water, LP gas, electricity, wifi and Netflix, bank and...

Hoping to move soon to Argentina, here for immigration advice

On prior occasions and in several threads, I have mentioned setting up a "trust account" with a bank that makes the appropriate monthly income distributions to the income beneficiary could demonstrate to migraciones that the applicant for the visa rentista will receive sufficient passive and...

Diet: Living on beef and eggs

Wise choices. Few individuals realize that seed oils, as well as sugar and many unhealthy chemicals, which are added to "enhance flavors" and extend shelf life (think trans fats and other preservatives) are present in almost all hghly processed food, including bread. Seed oils are 8ndustrial...

Paying the Overstay Fee at the Cruise Terminal

And, if I remember correctly, someone (most likely Bajo_cero2) indicated that migraciones does not ban anyone from reentry when leaving Argentina. Instead, they ban whoever they wish from entering the country, for any reason they deem appropriate, even if it's the first time the foreigner tries...

Paying the Overstay Fee at the Cruise Terminal

I can only remember one post in the pasr 18 years by someone who was harshly criticized by migraciones at EZE when leaving Argentina and only one who was either banned from reentry for a period of time or claimed to know someone who was banned. In any case, no matter how long or how many times...

Happy Pre-Columbus Day, everyone - and a question

Perhaps a (currently) "fixed income migrant retiree" who has a university degree in economics which was followed by several decades of actual business experience, especially as a business owner or a CEO, can.

Diet: Living on beef and eggs

Even if ALL of the plant material consumed by cattle is poisonous to humans, (snd I am inclined to sgree that is the case), their meat is not, even though beef from grass fed cattle has higher levels of omega 3 fatty acids. The complex digestive system of cattle make beef the most health...

Using public healthcare system in CABA during trip

While I completely agree with this, I know from personal ecperience as a tourist that anyone can go to the emergency room of a public hospital if they require (or think that they require) immediate medical attemtion, as I did at the Facultad de Medicina on a Sunday morning, less than 30 days...

    The Mess in Argentina

Over what period of time are you talking about a 30% increase in costs in dollars? As I posted recently, my cost of living (what I pay for food, electricity, drinking water, coffee, Netflix, Wi-Fi, LP gas, nafta, house and car insurance, medical exams, property taxes and auto related fees...

Is it possible to start a business in Argentina as a foreigner?

Even though this thread is from 2010, posts 9 and 11 probably apply as well in 2024 as they did then: https://baexpats.org/threads/export-import-business-in-argentina.7175/

    Price of meat will skyrocket

should be: from less than $20.000 pesos per kilo to nearly (and occasionally more than) $40.000 pesos per kilo.

    Price of meat will skyrocket

The total cost of food and drink: meat (beef and pork), eggs, coffee and bottled water is now the "most expensive budget item," with meat at the top of the list. In January my food cost was about $100 USD per month and now it's s little over $200 USD per month. I was also consuming butter and...
