Don't Be A Dolphin In Argentina

:( So sad, saw this on some news site and didn't click the link because I didn't really want to know... how awful it happened here. How ignorant and stupid.... not one sane humane person among them to say "put it back in the water?"

What Do You Call A Piece Of Hardware

I just searched for "iman para puerta" and this came up. Reten magnetico maybe. http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.ar/MLA-603041494-reten-magnetico-iman-para-puertas-marron-o-blanco-x-10-uni-_JM

Taking Argentine Wife For Uk Visit

I must pass through a different line at immigration here, because I don't get that lovey dovey feeling from the agents. :D They are less intimidating though, and generally will let you pass without too much hassle. I've only been to the UK a couple times, always on international transfers...

    The Bsas Zoo

I'm not an anti-zoo person, but BA zoo is pretty bad. I went once 10 years ago on my first trip here and was kind of put off by the lack of care of the animals and the state of the enclosures. Especially the elephants. But, a lot of things in Argentina are like that (schools, roads...

    Hispanic Or Latino?

I guess everything that needs to be said is shown in the thumbnail of the video. Good to know that when I checked off the "hispanic" box when it comes to race I wasn't really lying. ;) I've always questioned whether Spain really counts as hispanic since it doesn't really make sense that...

Anyone Received A Package From Abroad In Last 2-3 Weeks?

How has people's experiences been with shipping out of the country? I suppose there shouldn't be a customs issue, but is there a good chance it might get stolen?

It Happened To Me. Visa Entry Problem.

Wow, what a nerve-racking ordeal. I'm glad that it had a good ending for you and that Mr. Rubilar was able to help you out.

    Pickpocketed, And Passport Replaced

Sorry that happened to you. It's the oldest trick in the book here - even my Canadian uncle and aunt were victim to it when they came. Unfortunately this type of thing can really skew a person's opinion of the place. That's one of the first things they remember about their visit here. Glad...

    Dealing With Disaster

What a way to start the year. :( Glad to hear you all are okay, though. What a scary experience.

    New Exchange Rate On Wednesday

Well... :P While I want to go back to a floating currency as much as anyone, this is bad timing for us since we're in the US. Will they also get rid of the 35% tax on credit card purchases? We better hurry up and get our Christmas shopping done. I remember when the arbolitos on Florida St...

678 Propaganda Program Should Go Out Of Tv Publica Ch 7

TV Publica should be geared towards education and culture... not political talk shows. A nice cooking show where people aren't screaming all the time or kids' educational programming or even a show about how-tos (especially taking care of home and self.)

    Help With Steps Gaining Residency.

Here is the aforementioned post Bajo was referring to. http://baexpats.org/topic/29534-immigration-for-dummies/page__hl__%2Bimmigration+%2Bfor+%2Bdummies Also, my suggestion would be to stop doing the visa runs. Your passport doesn't need to have a "current visa" to go through the process and...

    China Town Remodel Is Done

Last time my husband and I went (which isn't as often as we'd like), we were surprised to find they had turned it into a pedestrian/peatonal. Got a parking ticket since we parked on one of the side streets - apparently you can't park on the curb within a certain distance from the train tracks. :P

    Argentine Sweets

I remember an early conversation I had with my brother-in-law. We were talking about his trip to Spain some years ago... and he mentioned that the pastries there were different. I sighed and said "yes." Then he goes "Here they're better!" I guess it's only natural to think that what...

    The Kiss And Hug Greeting

It is sort of fake when you have to greet people you may not particularly like with a kiss... especially in a classroom or work setting where it's a daily thing that is close to meaningless, but if you don't you're seen as rude and antisocial. Greeting with a kiss should be reserved for...

    Concerning Visa

You won't have "problems" leaving, but you'll most likely have to pay the overstay fee even if it's just 1 day over. As for coming back... shouldn't be a problem. If you're going to be here for most of the year, it might be a good idea to look into residency options.
