    TransferWise comes to Argentina

PSA: This is probably mentioned in other parts of the forum, but I learned this while using Transfer Wise. When you received your CUIL/CUIT originally (before receiving DNI), it is a temporary number. Once you receive your DNI the CUIL changes to 20+DNI+8. I say this because I had saved my...

    How to get to Campana

Hello everyone, We are looking to take a long weekend at a hotel in Campana in BA provincia. I looked at renting a car, but we would be spending the whole time at the hotel/resort and it seems a waste to rent a car for that long only to use it 2 hours (plus expensive). I called the hotel...

Anyone use a foreign Visa as their primary payment method here?

From my understanding the visa exchange rate is a day or two behind always. Not a big deal in a normal country, but here completely its different.

Do not bank with Santander Río!

Agreed. I have an account with Santander Rio. Customer Service has been good. I've got to say I'm pretty happy with them. I find it wierd that OP thought somehow migraciones opinion mattered at a private company. Like somehow they are obligated to do business with him because a government...

Using UBER in BA with a US cell phone

The Uber driver does not have the right to refuse a credit card used through the app. Their opinion on the matter is irrelevant. Tell them that and then report them through the app. They will be deactivated very quickly. Uber doesnt mess around. They want to be the worlds taxi service where you...

Using UBER in BA with a US cell phone

yea for sure they know. They can tell by looking at the app. The one time the guy asked he just didn't look at the app. I've used it 2-3 times a week for 6 months now. No issue whatsoever. Farthest I've gone in provincial is Vicente Lopez but no issue. I always feel safe.

Using UBER in BA with a US cell phone

Last thing: Sit in the passenger seat of the Uber. Apparently it makes cab drivers less likely to realize it's an Uber. Some cab drivers are know for harassing and even attacking Uber drivers and passengers. It's never happened to me, but it's in the news. If something does happen, just play...

Using UBER in BA with a US cell phone

Also I don't think you could call the driver. But the app has built in messaging you can use if you have Wi-Fi or roaming data.

Using UBER in BA with a US cell phone

It will charge your credit card and no need to pay cash. The uber drivers understand this. Argentines have to pay in cash because Argentine credit cards are blocked by the government for Uber. But the drivers do plenty of business with foreigners and are accustomed to foreigners paying with a...
