When is the next Argentina election?

I'm not sure about the exact date, but there's really not much to see (unless you're an Argentine and can vote?). They close down most of the bars the night before, or just serve soft drinks (no drinking and voting!), and voting is on a Sunday, so people are out and about as usual; they quietly...

Anyone missed the police visit for the certificado de domicilio?

It was equally random for me. First time a man said they'd mail it, then when it didn't come a woman just handed it to me. For my second address, the police looked at the delivery slip for a couch and my ID, and gave it to me with a smile. I get the impression this is not a process they deal...

Sounds like transportation strikes this week? Trains/subways Wednesday, buses Thursday... I got that right?

I got mine same day. They just hand it to you.

    Apply for CDI online

This is what I did in March of this year. Then again in September when I had a new address. In the first case I brought my lease to the local police station, they said they'd mail it to me to prove my address. Never came. I went back and they issued the domicilio on the spot, without checking...

Liam Payne former One Direction member dead in a fall from a BA Hotel balcony.

The thing I'm curious about is the height of the railing on the balcony. Is there a building code down here? Is it followed? Two girls couldn't push him off if the railing was sufficiently high... Every time I'm squeezing past someone in the balcony of teatro Colón I'm reminded I'm a lot taller...

Customs rules for electronics and furniture

For furniture if you're not choosy the ejercito de salvación in Pompeya has dressers, tables etc. it's good for buying in bulk if you have to furnish a whole place fast. Marketplace is great but it has you running all over the city and meeting flakey people who may or may not be there when you...

President Milei Slows Inflation to 2021 Levels in Major Win for Argentine People

I'm an illustrator, not an economist, so forgive me for my visual thinking. Someone posted a picture of the post-pandemic 'inflation bump', and it's not so different proportionally from Europe and the USA; it just occurred later (and at a different scale, because, Argentina). The inflation was...

What's the reality of safety in Buenos Aires?

Hunh I forgot about this thread... I went to buy a used electric kettle from a guy in Caballito this weekend, and I had a devil of a time communicating with him because he had 'lost his phone', so he could only respond when he was at his computer. He said to bring cash. I said, okay let's meet...

Is there an Uber app for fletes?

Just for future reference, it seems indrive doesn't include guys to carry the stuff up a flight of stairs... Bit I'll download it for smaller things. The guys I hired were cursing up a storm, but they got the thing up the stairs.

US Embassy: presidential election voting reminder for citizens in ARG

Same with Colorado. Very easy to vote. The person who asked about the embassy should lookat his state's info online, that would determine it, not the feds.

Is there an Uber app for fletes?

I'm looking at a small wardrobe today and since I won't know I'm buying it until I see it, it's hard to schedule a flete days in advance. Too big for a cab... But would probably fit in a miniflete. I searched online and I found a few but they all seem to have failed.

Once-bustling Buenos Aires restaurants hustle for customers

I can't believe all the new coffee places in Villa Crespo, and they're not cheap. They aren't exactly full either. I don't get what they were thinking, but they probably all opened up in the past year. It's weird. They're charging very close to USA prices.

    Gym - Walkable from Chacarita

Any nice gyms in Villa Crespo? I'm thinking I'll just walk up to XXL on Scalabrini, because their prices were reasonable 2 years ago... not sure what they would be now, of course they don't publish them...
