Crossing Land Borders w/Overstayed Visa - Plz Help

You already have the Bolivian tourist visa? If so you should be okay...I don't think the "officers" are allowed to handle money at the borders. It would be too complicated. The Argentines may give you a hard time coming back in, have your acting skills on point!

    Question for Americans:Voting?

(By "American" I mean from the United States - trained myself) I know I'm a bit early, but just want to get organized. Have any of you ever gone through the absentee ballot process? How annoying/complicated is it? Tips/suggestions appreciated (sarcasm/ mean comments - put it in your pocket and...

Layover in Brazil without a visa..

After living in Brazil for almost 2 years, I can honestly tell you that if you had gone to a different immigration officer it would have probably been different, they are all SO different, it really makes you wonder if they all have the same employee manual. There's always someone who wants to...

What's the deal about Angola anyway?

It's a humanitarian mission. They're giving "Clarin Lies" socks to poor children. http://bucket3.clanacion.com.ar/anexos/fotos/98/medios-y-politica-1536198w645.jpg

Street crime as a cultural issue

Luanda is apparently the most expensive city in the world, from an expat perspective. Mumbai has the most expensive house in the world at 1 billion, http://framework.latimes.com/2010/10/25/most-expensive-home-in-the-world-has-27-floors-ocean-and-slum-views/#/0, Nigeria ... a country that is SO...

Street crime as a cultural issue

I don't think it's a "cultural issue," I think it more be a wealth disparity issue. I think the larger the wealth gap, the more crime you will find. Cue Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo ... etc. I don't think Armenia and Vietnam have as many wealthy people as Buenos Aires does. Just look at the...

    Sending stuff home

NYC to Europe is a piece of cake. South America is complicated..the company I used to get things to Brasil is now under an FBI investigation (cue: awkward silence) When I lived in the UK I sent everything back and forth no problems with USPS. But it was "stuff" not furniture. This place has a...

Anyone know of an institute that teaches Processing?

Thanks, I'll give that site a try. I've been obsessed with it since I read about this project http://casualdata.com/newsknitter/ years ago. Most people have no idea what I'm talking about though. Keep me in the loop if you find someone/place!

    Sending stuff home

I sent my stuff from NY to Rio via boat, 2 wardrobe boxes FILLED, it took 3months and $500. I think it would be better to look for a company in the US that ships here than the other way around.

    Latest influx of immigrants

It's the same thing in NYC with the Bronx and Harlem. I TOTALLY know that ... Ingelwood has some really nice parts ... and so does Compton. Ladeira Heights is also very upscale. However, the post that I was replying to was NOT referring to the positive aspects of those communities;), his...

I'm Black and speak English, and am NOT from Ingelwood, or any other "hood" for that matter. Maybe you want to pack that "ism" into a first class mail envelope and send it BACK to the US. I think the correo will be open tomorrow and can assist you.
