Bank transfer hasn't arrived after 3 weeks

If the name or account number of the beneficiary on the transfer form don`t match the name of the actual account holder, the funds are normally returned within 2 to 3 days. I am guessing the problem lies in Argentina as Argentine bank employees are often incompetent, arrogant and indifferent...

New capital gains tax on property in Argentina

I am guessing many people would move their money offshore before buying government bonds. It will be a shame if the government does anything to harm the real estate market, as it creates so much spin off economic activity.

Bolsonaro potential new president of Brazil serious implications

I wonder if certain groups from Brazil are going to start to move to Argentina ? IE: I am given the impression (correct?) that times could be very very rough for the LGBTQ community in Brazil.

My wife (Argentinian) claims you can live "well" on $1500 a month in Argentina. True?

My wife (Argentinian) claims you can live "well" on $1500 a month in Argentina. True?

I think when comparing safety in US vs. Argentina, one has to consider more specific locations and lifestyles. Safety varies from city to city and barrio to barrio. Some walk the streets late at night, others stay cocooned in a car in the suburbs, using a remote control to enter the garage.

Looking for a furnished appartement in Palermo or Recoletta for about 2 years.

My impression is the owners are better off if the tenant is willing to pay the Airbnb commission (15.6%) as the owners are better protected against trying to evict a dead beat tenant.

My Argentinian wife really dislikes the US. Typical of Argentinians?

That is such a contrast from cerca 2003 when locals would tell me voluntarily they thought W. Bush was a dangerous, war mongerer and perhaps insane.

New Immigration Decree, Long Life To King Macri!

Forgive me, but I can`t help but wonder whether the changes might be aimed more at people with darker skin ?

My Argentinian wife really dislikes the US. Typical of Argentinians?

Lol. I am referring to the general dislike of Trump by people who are not from the US.

Who buys up all these expensive properties?

I look upon Buenos Aires as rather like the New York City of South America. New York City was in terrible shape in the 1970´s. It was dangerous, no longer "the place" to be and verging on bankruptcy. It recovered and people became willing to pay more and more to be there. Now it appears...

My Argentinian wife really dislikes the US. Typical of Argentinians?

Could it be that Argentines are concerned about the IMF currently, which they associate with the US ? I also wonder whether the general dislike of President Trump is a factor (though I don`t know of Trump insulting Argentines yet) ?

How to force a bank to release my money ?

They returned the funds to my bank in Mexico. My bank in Mexico contacted me, saying to come pronto, to accept the funds, which I did. I don`t have a ·US$ account in Mexico, so I had to convert the money into Mexican pesos. All in all, the attempted transfer to my BBVA/Banco Frances account cost...

How to force a bank to release my money ?

I got the funds I wired in June to my BBVA/Banco Frances account, returned to me finally ! I believe the return was in response to a letter that BancoFrances asked me to send them, which I did. The bonus was that the bank had not converted my funds to ARS, so I didn`t lose on the devalutation...

How to force a bank to release my money ?

Thanks so much Kookaburra ! That is good to know ! At the moment, I wonder if the bank was just wanting to use my money to get interest. They seemed not to want me to know the transfer had arrived, but didn`t have questions about the origin of the money.
