    "civil" Marriage - Documents Needed?

Personal experience as well. Unless both of you aren't Argentine? You can't legally get married in two countries. Any country will recognize your marriage that occurred in another country. And you as foreign citizen can simply and easily apply for permanent residency as spouse of Argentine...

    "civil" Marriage - Documents Needed?

Your marriage is automatically recognized in Argentina if you're married in the US (or anywhere else for that matter) - not sure why anyone would have told you differently. And there's no fee or anything else involved although you do need documents apostilled, etc.

Taking My Artwork Out Of Argentina?

I shipped 9 or 10 paintings out of Argentina. It actually wasn't terrible - there were forms that needed to be filled out and dropped off and I had to government approval to take them out but the entire process took a week or so. Honestly, I wouldn't probably have bothered if they hadn't...

Owner Selling Apt While I'm Renting

That's great! We were just talking about this. We just bought some land here in the US and the seller was SO thrilled we were paying in cash. The fact that we were not going to have a mortgage quickly made us his favorite people! And even better for us, it is so much easier here on the buying...

Argentine Art Gallery Owner Denied Entry Into Us

I would like to know more. I'm the furthest thing from a fan of the current administration and the policies but this whole thing seems very odd to me. Specifically that neither the subject nor his gallery will clarify what reason he was given (if any) for his detention/return to Buenos Aires...

Customs Won't Let Me Retrieve Shipment

Holy hell.. 4 months in customs. THat's going to be very, very expensive to get released. Have you talked to a customs broker? Your best bet might be gong to one and understanding the only way out may be a huge coima. Or let's call it a fine if we want to be PC.

New Immigration Decree, Long Life To King Macri!

There are no lawful title holders. That entire place is based on squatters occupying land back in the 40s. What every happened to the urbanization that was supposed to take place? There were plans put in place back in 2010/11 and then I never really heard anything else about it.

Thanks guys! I keep tabs on what is going on. We still have business stuff in BsAs and the family is there so we'll be back a lot. Mmoon - definitely true on private school depending where you are. Our twins are in a religious affiliated school here and we pay 228 TOTAL for both of them for...

Is Buenos Aires Still Cheap With Usd?

I've never understood saying with pride that it's still cheaper than NYC or Seattle. Yes, it is. I earned approximately a gazillion dollars (not real numbers;) more when I lived in NYC. If you don't earn a NYC salary in dollars, why would you care that it's (somewhat) cheaper in BsAs? It...

''bringing A Spouse And Kids Into The Uk''

There's really not - I've known them both forever - well, right after they got married Apparently the UK gov't had questions about whether she was just using him for a visa for the UK and denied on that basis. Despite again - being married for 7 years. Total and utter BS - he (the UK citizen)...

''bringing A Spouse And Kids Into The Uk''

I will say that a British friend of mine who has been married to his Arg wife for 7 or 8 years moved from here, took a job in Spain and then got a job in the UK. They went to the UK where he owns a home, had a job, etc and in the end, her visa application was denied. They wound up having to...

Documentary On Sexual Turism In Buenos Aires

Remind me - at one point there was a forum for those looking for "working girls" if I recall. It was discussed here. I wish the sex trade was regulated more. I don't care how people choose to make a living as long as its free choice. I just want she (or he) to be safe.

Are Return Flights Required At Customs/immigration?

Check with your airline - they don't care here but your airline very well may demand proof of onward travel. Extra luggage is NBD for aduana here if you're entering as a tourist.

    Guard Dogs For Adoption

Thank you! I'm super happy the dogs get to stay - that was the plan but then the new owners changed their mind but luckily changed it back. These breeds are generally very attached to place, not as much people. And they love their life as farm dogs and a house wouldn't have been the right fit...
