Go to Lavalle and Puyerredon--it's the Fabric District. If you start there, walk down Lavalle (you'll see which direction to walk when you get there) and that store and general district is just FULL of fabrics of all different kinds for several blocks. You can find nice quality and cheapie...
I agree with Kevin. Adopting an animal is a serious responsibility, and you're not doing any dog any real favors by taking it in for a short term and then abandoning it when you leave. Either adopt and plan to take the dog home with you, "sit" a dog, or just deal for three months without a...
well, it is the easiest and most effective way!
Otherwise, talk to people (don't hold back because you're embarrassed), listen, watch TV, read, listen to the radio, and study. Get a tutor if you can afford one!
Almagro, Villa Crespo and Chacaritas are all barrios that you could find maybe a less expensive room in that are great neighborhoods. Even Congresso is alright and safer than Constitucion.
Healthcare being free is sort of a misnomer. There are free hospitals where you can go to get care for...
Constitucion is most definitely not a "safe" area to live in, most in fact avoid it completely or at least definitely at night.
You didn't mention how much money you'll have for rent and other expenses. I'd assume that if you have all that covered (rent, healthcare if you want it, bills...
littlebird, if you do a search on this website for apartment rentals you should find tons of threads with all the possible websites and listings available in town. One that I like a lot is www.enbuenosaires.com
good luck!
What a nightmare! I'm amazed at everything you've gone through so far (just in that locale!) that you stil want to stay. Best of luck to you resolving this quickly.
I have updated this list with things that are sold or still for sale. Additionally, here are the newly listed items:

Well, JB, maybe you're sweet enough already. ;)
Me, I'll stick with my method and have had no complaints! Then again, I'm not shelling out for Cointreau here, if I did that would work for me too...
Your second attempt will be better if you make a sugar syrup instead of using granules straight. 1:1 ratio sugar to water (or 1:.5, I like mine a little less sweet). You just melt it down and cool it before using. Good stuff! :)
Hi All!
I'm moving to a furnished apartment for the final push in BA, and am selling several items of furniture at great discounted prices. I have listed everything on Craigslist with pictures, so click the link if interested, and PM or email me from the Craigslist ad!
Air Conditioner New for...
I don't know of anything in English but what better way to improve your Spanish than just dive in? This website has several potential interesting options:

good luck and have fun!
I wish (and would love if someone knows of something). Unfortunately the only way I know of to get a really good margarita here is to make your own simple syrup (easy! you can even infuse it with kumquat or lime for some extra flare) + liqueur + juicing your own limes. The best pre-processed...
I would also venture a guess that as you've only been here for a month, that they might not be certain of your committment to stay which may result in the lack of an offer. Sounds like you have good prospects and are an excellent candidate, though. Best of luck to you.
On the COL, When I arrived here in 2006 I signed up for OSDE 310 (mid-range plan) and believe that I was paying $150/mo until I cancelled it because I wasn't using it. I'm in my early 30s (it goes to a higher pay scale after the 36th birthday, I think 26-35 is the plan level I'm on), and...
Well, I typically cook because I can make MUCH better food at home for a fraction of the cost of eating out. I'll also preface that I'm relatively picky about food and am generally unhappy with the food variety and availability here (I'd probably have left already if it weren't for Barrio...
