Marrying in Argentina (and the US?)

Steve- Our CPA told us no matter where you leave if you are US you pay taxes. Which is ironic, because paying tax aren't required by the Constitution.

Is BA real estate selling? If so, where and how much?

If cash is king why is gold going up hit at 1,000 today. The dollar and gold don't rise at the same time.

Marrying in Argentina (and the US?)

Did you get paid in dollars? I would check the IRS website. I know we don't live in the US and still have to file taxes for them. But a friend of mine lives in Japan for the last five years, since he has no pay in dollars or works for an American company he doesn't pay US taxes.

Because you don't have to be in the States to download the books now. But you still can't do it the "normal" way. We have the original Kindle. I am now getting use to it.

    Baby Boomers in BA

The new Kindle, I heard from hubby, lets you download the books to your computer than you can get them on a UBS stick to transfer. He is excited about that feature, because most the time we download the books as we are flying through the States. Getting books sent to you via Amazon isn't...

Is It Time to Bail Out of the US?

I feel sorry for the suckers who are selling all their gold jewelry and such. They are only getting maybe 30% or less of the value. I find it hard to believe that by printing more money the dollar will maintain is "high" value. It has been a while since we were in the States. Most of the...

HYT-Thanks for doing to poll. I have used a term that offended some one apologize for the term, and then was called an idiot. The funny thing about the internet is the whole face to face disconnect. I think this site has improved from when we first started looking at it 2 years ago. You just...

    Expats not happy, why stay?

Maybe some expats can't leave because of contracts with their companies. No matter how many times you come to visit, either short stay a week or 3 months, a person won't know what is like to live until they have been at a place for a year or longer. Living in a foreign country is especially...

IBM asks laid-off employees to relocate overseas

This month the Economist has an article about how Argentina and Venezuela are not friendly to foreign business. As for the IBM gig...I met a woman, works at IBM, who is in her 50s and has been traveling back and forth from US to Argentina/Brazil. She was given the option of relocating down to...

    Converting foreign qualifications

I know this works for US documents. You have to get your certificates/degree apostilled. After they are apostilled, your future employer can get them translated or you can get them translated. I found that here my degrees have more pull for a job than in the US. This has worked for me. I teach...

    Hi

Our move was simple enough, expect for the air shipment got here one day before our boat shipment. If you don't have a permanent resident visa, than the air shipment won't make it. If you like certain spices bring those with you. Good Luck!

Is It Time to Bail Out of the US?

Thanks Igor for the information. I think the US hasn't seen this type of printing in a while and people are worried of what is to come. Do you think some Providence in Argentina could start doing this with the coins?
