    Safe to wear watches?

How about NYC? USA is third world now. We're very glad to be rid of it. Basically, it's a slave state getting its comeuppance. USA is a third world country for the most part. NYC? Luxury hotel? Good luck. https://nypost.com/2022/03/18/33-year-old-wearing-100000-watch-shot-outside-4-star-nyc-hotel/

    Safe to wear watches?

We find that wearing understated white gold or platinum accessories draws far less attention than gaudy yellow gold. I wear a vintage 18kt white-cold Patek Calatrava every day without problem. BA isn’t Chicago or Detroit.

So this is that famous inflation yall been talking about

Good coffee and beans here. Lattente https://maps.app.goo.gl/kMGpgAHSwtmNzPS67 USA is lost. We loved San Diego... And Seattle... And Santa Monica... And NYC etc. Until they all became like this.... Just the way it is. And getting worse. Quickly. Be grateful you're here. Good choice. One of...

What do American expats miss the most about living in America?

We find the quality of life substantially better in CABA than NYC, la, Seattle and Chicago, the places we have lived in USA. However, if you miss huge box stores filled with Chinese merchandise and chain restaurants and Starbucks on every corner, horrific traffic, out of control violent crime...

Sense of dread grows in Argentina with difficult March ahead

Lol. I was--rather poorly-- trying to make the point that none of this matters. What happens here doesn't matter. Argentina? Who cares? Ukraine? Lol. But all the international-expert busybodies here will fret as though they do. Me, more tannat, please.

Sense of dread grows in Argentina with difficult March ahead

Well, at least Uruguay isn't invading. Or planning to drop a FOAB on Palermo. Yet!!

When I move here what special things should I bring that are hard to get?

Haiti was the base for my work in the Caribbean. Beirut, Cairo, Phnom Penh etc before. Now, only Palermo Chico and Florence. Two of the last non-shiteholes of the world.

When I move here what special things should I bring that are hard to get?

We find almost everything we want at the Carrefour Hipermarket in Alcorta mall. Shoes, clothes can be custom made. We bring in some electronics each year. Some of you talk about CABA as if it's Port-au-Prince. Trust me, i's not. I was assigned there for several years.

    Alberto & Putin

Having lived in Brazil and Mexico... we're very glad we're here. And in Tuscany for the winter months. There's something to be said for a culture that largely comes from Europe rather than the options.

    Culture Reality Check

We spend five months here and five in Florence, Italy. The supermarket service is considerably better here.

Hi folks... Need to have a wall/Murphy bed installed in guest room. Can anyone recommend a good installer? We're in Palermo Chico. Thanks very much.

I moved from Argentina to the US 12 years ago

In the USA we say: You can never have too many types of breakfast cereal, salad dressing, or semiautomatic weapons.

Roku, Chromecast with Google TV, Amazon Fire Stick in Argentina

No! But if you did, you can find anything from new films, the latest shows from the BBC, Apple, HBO, Prime, etc. And just about any older film or tv show you'd care to watch. But don't do it! The Plex media server is great, btw. It's also free. But don't do it. Ever. https://www.plex.tv/

Or, you could do what I do. Use pirate bay to download whatever I want (I use a VPN set to Switzerland), then playback using Plex media server. Very slick. Plex...

    Western Union money transfer

What I like about the Alcorta/Palermo Chico location is that there is no waiting. And they'll have the cash. But I live next door.

    Western Union money transfer

There's a large Pago Facil in the Carrefour Hipermarket in Alcorta mall in Palermo Chico. They virtually always have plenty of cash.

Melancholy for my former country … and how it’s changing

Empires come and go. USA had a good run. It was always a country built on slavery and myth. Plenty of folks--myself among them--did very well. Many not. Happy I left in Oct 2019 when things were starting to crumble. Now, it's CABA and Tuscany and no looking back.

I have never had a problem with WU. And I use it in multiple countries. The Pago Facil office in Alcorta is very good, as is the newer one at Cervino 3919.
