    Specific exchanges

You can say the same thing about the central Western Union office or Cambio Berlin. Yeah, yeah, there is always a story. Many years ago, a guy was stabbed because he refused to give up his camera, so you shouldn't take pictures in Buenos Aires.

Don't use places without a currency-counting machine. You do realize that Florida is a pedestrian street, right?

Maybe don’t let the airport scan your face

What's the point of opting out? They already have your driver's license picture on file. By the time you reach the gates, you've passed numerous cameras. Is it just this particular camera that makes you nervous? Try to opt out of having your picture taken at the immigration controls when you...

Is it necessary to have a full-time job to extend temporary residency? Or is part-time enough?

Maybe somebody can provide a more current view on the subject. In my opinion, renewing temporary residency is pretty much automatic - no questions are asked at all. When you apply for permanent residency, you undergo an evaluation. They are more concerned about something called "medios lícitos...

    Adult Night School

So, do you have your high school diploma or not? If you do and need to apostille it, and the school is not cooperative, go to the school district, county clerk, or whoever handles these matters outside of the school itself.

In Las Vegas may be. In the rest of America, if you try to pay with a hundred-dollar bill, the cashier will probably freak out and call for a manager.

Using your Argentina credit card while traveling outside Argentina

Does the transaction description explicitly state that this amount corresponds to a $1.79 charge generated by Google? It's possible that you're looking at a tax transaction related to an earlier payment. What's the exact wording?

Argentines Suddenly Need Pesos After Milei Pitched Dollarization

It reminds me of a story about a bus driver: Every time someone runs to catch his bus, he sincerely wonders whether that person will make it or not. The central bank sets an artificially low official dollar price, forcing some people to sell at this price and allowing a few to buy at it. It can...

Foreign credit cards purchases at MEP rate

Actually, the 40,000 is just a suggestion based on your last withdrawal, not a limit set by BNA. You can manually enter a different amount. If the ATM is stocked with 2,000 notes, you should be able to withdraw up to 2,000 x 40 = 80,000 in one go.

Food prices are amongst the highest of the planet

Here is the lead paragraph from the article you quoted. Or in English For someone with a basic knowledge of math, this means that tourism numbers were increasing by about 2% monthly over last year, but they plummeted by about 9% in February 2024 right after the Milei election. However, I don't...

Food prices are amongst the highest of the planet

I think you found the most important criteria to find out how the new president is doing: cheap Pad Thai and maybe also cheap pumpkin lattes. This is what Argentines really care about.

Food prices are amongst the highest of the planet

What you call common sense is essentially a form of idiocy. For an educated person, fluent in a foreign language, with work experience that is in demand in developed countries, a remote job is usually the best option. The era when students came here to enjoy Buenos Aires and worked as English...

Food prices are amongst the highest of the planet

Yes, why don't you all concentrate on the similarities instead of pointing out the differences? You see, the polar night and the regular night is about the same: first, the sun sets, and then it rises. However, in one case it lasts for two months, and in the other, it lasts for 8 hours. Same...

Accountant recommendations for a US therapist living in Argentina...

I'm pretty sure there's no such thing as temporary Argentine citizenship. You're either a citizen or not. Are they aware that you are planning to work from a foreign location? Essentially, with a W-2, they will withhold your taxes, and then you'll need to apply for your foreign income...
