Thanks, no need for more responses. Cheers.

Should we come to Argentina this Dec/Jan?

Obviously. I'm really asking for feedback from those on this forum who are well connected to the travel industry in Argentina (such as antipodean). Not really interested in getting off topic.

Should we come to Argentina this Dec/Jan?

Hi all, I haven't posted in awhile, since I've been outside the country and obviously unable to enter without major hassles. However, we'd like to visit after Christmas if it's not going to be a total nightmare. I know the borders are supposed to reopen November 1, but the flight schedules...

Reduced flight schedules and current entry / exit requirements

If you or anyone sees an actual increase in flight schedules to/from the US, please keep us posted!

Reduced flight schedules and current entry / exit requirements

Thanks to all for the updated intel. We were hoping to finally come in late December, but I see the whole system is still full of shenanigans. No need to give them my money only for them to cancel and then give me a "credit" that's a nightmare to use.

    Argentina VS Spain

In Argentina the food is much more Italian influenced (not nearly as good though) but the culture is much more Spanish. It’s always interesting to me that Argentines think they can come to Italy and communicate in their Spanish, sorry, castellano.

Good restaurant near Belgrano R station?

I can second Jolie. It’s been good for ages. Maru Botana also has fresh options and Tea Connection is popular with the ladies who lunch. I don’t know of any more sophisticated options at lunchtime.

    Buy a house in BA?

My experience is don’t buy anything where you’re responsible for the roof. We bought and also built several properties in BA province. Even being on-site most of the time during construction, every single roof leaked and had to be repaired, sometimes multiple times. Construction quality and...

Anybody trying to fly out to get vaccinated and then return?

Totally worth it IMO to come to the States for the vaccination. After a disastrous Covid year, the vaccination system is totally working. Nearly everyone I know in the US has gotten at least one shot (go for the dual shot if you can take the time...Pfizer is quicker of course, three weeks...

Why I am not planning on taking the vaccine any time soon, if ever

The cruel truth is that anti-vaxxers benefit from the community-minded actions of those who do get the vaccine. All that self righteousness is really just selfishness. If you’re worried about the speed of the vaccine development, take some time and read through this article. You may not agree...

    Tourism open yet?

Back to the original post...I’m all over the internet trying to find the latest rules for non-residents being allowed to come to Argentina as tourists in the future. If anyone has the official rules and dates, I’d appreciate it. I know everything is subject to change depending on the virus...

How many people are contributing to this forum?

SO not many active contributors anymore, just secret lurkers and stalkers ;) I agree this forum definitely got too judgmental and hot for awhile...but maybe those people have left or cooled down?

    Why Argentina over other countries?

Having the freedom to leave when you want (more or less) IS definitely the key. Ups and downs are the norm.

How many people are contributing to this forum?

Definitely way down from the late 00s and early 10s. It's hard to get as worked up about little things.

    Why Argentina over other countries?

When we first came 20(!) years ago, we felt immediately that Buenos Aires was a world class city, even though the country was in the midst of going through five presidents in two weeks. The other countries don't compare IMHO, sorry. It's vibrant and a vortex...once you fall for Argentina, you...

Argentines mourn loss of Quino, beloved creator of Mafalda

My son loved those books. The good ones out there seem to be dropping like flies these days. Meanwhile, the bad bugs...

Looking for a safe neighborhood with local experience

There are two sides of Belgrano R, depending on which side of the tracks you're on (literally). Definitely, the Avenida Melián side is more suburban, which I would love if I wanted a provincia feeling without being north of General Paz. We lived on the other/wrong side of the tracks in a tall...

Best street to live on in Belgrano

Not to drive too hard of a bargain on selling Belgrano R, but depending on where you go generally, there’s a Belgrano R stop on the Mitre line with just a few stops, including Collegiales and Palermo, before you arrive in Retiro. IMHO opinion, much better than being in the subterranean subway...

Looking for a safe neighborhood with local experience

Belgrano R hands down. You’re still in CABA but have some of the suburban vibe. Good food, parks and a direct train to Retiro through Palermo and Collegiales. Only drawback is the difficulty of actually finding a place. Pretty much no one leaves.
