    Moving to Argentina

Ok then. You can’t live just anywhere you like in BsAs with kids. I’d recommend Nordelta as it’d be very convenient with 3 kids. It’s a gated community made up of gated barrios with security and full of amenities. Most houses have pools. Big garden. Two of the best hospitals in the country are...

    Moving to Argentina

Hello. Where in Argentina? Buenos Aires?

A coffee for $3.50: Argentina is the most expensive country in Latin America

The coffe I like in London is cheaper than the coffee I like in Buenos Aires! Apart from rent and labour, Argentina is crazy expensive. How’s that possible? You will charge more than UK prices but still pay your staff peanuts. I had a bagel at this chain. Paid £14 for a cheese and tomato bagel...

A coffee for $3.50: Argentina is the most expensive country in Latin America

Good customer service is an institutional policy. Server may be a bad person but do his/her job good. A server may be a lovely person but you may get a bad service. That happens. What if I want to have a nice bread after the lunchtime? 😎 That’s typical Argentine mindset. Love complaining but...

A coffee for $3.50: Argentina is the most expensive country in Latin America

Coffee good or bad. It’s irrelevant. One may like it the other one not. But it’s cheaper in London. Food may not be cheap, after all London is an expensive city but definitely cheaper in London. I can give examples if you like.

A coffee for $3.50: Argentina is the most expensive country in Latin America

I don’t know what you mean by exquisite food but there’s none of that in Buenos Aires. Or very rare! I think you’re in the wrong neighbourhood in Argentina as well! :-). London is full of restaurants cheaper than BsAs and of better quality. Are you sure you were in London, UK? Food is cheap...

A coffee for $3.50: Argentina is the most expensive country in Latin America

I’ve been back and forth for almost half a century and I never saw a good customer service! You may bump into a nice person who serves you (that happens quite a lot) but there isn’t a customer service culture in Argentina. And why not upscale? BTW; by upscale I was referring to not getting back...

A coffee for $3.50: Argentina is the most expensive country in Latin America

That’s what I say always. In Argentina you pay a lot and you don’t get what you pay for. There’s no good customer service. The western style “standards of service” doesn’t exist here. There are upscale places who think selling a bread from yesterday is normal.

Buy local eat local! As if there’s another option! These locals are the ones overcharging!

A coffee for $3.50: Argentina is the most expensive country in Latin America

Right now I am in Spain. I live here not visiting. If you don’t live in Barcelona and Madrid, even the rent is cheaper here. Food is cheap everywhere and delicious. Shopping, medicine, furniture as well. In Argentina we pay OSDE 850 USD for 4, in Spain just got quoted 250 dollars yesterday. If...

A coffee for $3.50: Argentina is the most expensive country in Latin America

We used to call Chile “nice but expensive”! Now Argentina is expensive but what you get for your buck in return is lower quality.

A coffee for $3.50: Argentina is the most expensive country in Latin America

Yes housing is more expensive in London but you can earn a lot more money in London that you can afford renting a decent flat or house. If you go a little bit further out of London just 30 mins train ride then you have bigger properties for less. I took the bus from Heathrow to the city and it...

A coffee for $3.50: Argentina is the most expensive country in Latin America

Left Argentina a week ago. Landed in London and first thing I’ve realised was how cheap London is compared to BsAs and how convenient it is as in easy to commute from the airport, access to decent and inexpensive variety of foods.

French sports chain Decathlon to open 20 stores in Argentina

I shop at Decathlon often. Their stuff is not cheap at all. That’s what I was thinking tho. I got my snowboard boots from them still going strong after 3 years using 20 days a year. I bought a snowboard jacket to wear while riding my Vespa in London when it’s raining and it’s almost everyday and...

French sports chain Decathlon to open 20 stores in Argentina

Zero chance!? This is the business model of Decathlon! Not saying they aim to put other businesses out of business but they come with all different sports goods from karate to kayak, tennis to hiking under one roof and they create massive competition with their own brands at very competitive prices.

French sports chain Decathlon to open 20 stores in Argentina

An Argentine brand of bottle of water is a lot more expensive here than a UK brand of a water in the UK. All the supermarkets offering discounts everyday to a different bank card each day. A supermarket can not offer 20% discount as their margins are too little. But they do it here. Restaurants...

French sports chain Decathlon to open 20 stores in Argentina

Yes the confidence is coming back. That’s a very good point. I remember Fallabella. Also remember Walmart. Wouldn’t blame them leaving under the economic conditions and fiscal policies they were experiencing here though. I just want a big player bringing big competition and those rip off places...

French sports chain Decathlon to open 20 stores in Argentina

I was thinking the same whether it’ll be equally cheap but they mostly sell their own brands. Their tennis shoes/wear, ski clothing, canoes you name it and they have it. I really want to see those greedy rip off establishments go bust with the serious competition coming into the country.
