    Visa/DNI questions

Some of the consulates will also take a state police background check in place of the FBI one as long as you are still in the USA when you get it - that cost I think $10 for me from PA. I think the FBI one might cost a little bit more.

    Visa/DNI questions

Steve, I ended up paying something like $180 for my work visa and maybe another $80 for the apostilles, etc. The state of Pennsylvania did the apostilles for $15 each. You can also call the Argentine consulate in the states in DC or in LA and ask them for advice. They are generally very helpful.

    Visa/DNI questions

Actually, I strongly recommend getting a visa before coming in this situation. I think if you are coming for that long and with children, you're going to run in to a LOT of extra hassles if you don't go through the process of doing the paperwork. For example, enrolling children in school, health...

    Does anyone have Canterbury Tales?

If you don't need a print copy, you can download the free Kindle app on your computer and then buy books from the Amazon Kindle store. I know it isn't the same as a paper book, but in a pinch, it works... As Canterbury Tales is so old, you might even be able to find a free online ebook copy...

    Asistente de Marketing

This is a local post here with the pharmaceutical company I work for. It would be for someone who can legally work in the country already (not a work permit sponsored position as far as I know). I'm not the official contact for this, but am just passing it on...

    Moving with kids summer 2011

If you know someone local who can help you and negotiate for you, etc., I would definitely go that route. Just be sure you read the contracts thoroughly before signing and have an idea from talking to people (for example on this board) of what is usually included in rent (such as 1 visit from a...

    Moving with kids summer 2011

My company set me up with an agent from a place called RentalCorp - it was only OK but I did find an owner who agreed to furnish a 2br/2ba very spacious apartment in Belgrano. I think I am still overpaying, but not as much as I would have for some of the tourist rentals, and I was looking for a...

    Moving with kids summer 2011

Belgrano is actually a pretty nice and (based on the number of kids in my apartment building pool) kid-friendly neighborhood. Not having a car is tough, I would think especially with kids, but doable, as cabs are still relatively inexpensive and the subway and bus connections on main roads (such...

Flying to Argentina with more electronics than a normal person

I doubt you'll have a problem. Usually it is Argentine nationals who have issues with customs. Flying many times through EZE with computers, etc., I have never had an issue as an expat. I would be more concerned about the security of your stuff in the bags. Carry on whatever you can rather than...

Health care insurance in the USA

Hi Seba, I studied health policy and health care economics and have been working in health policy in the US for many years and now here. If you really want to know, I can recommend some things to read, or we could get a cup of coffee or glass of wine and discuss (in ingles o castellano) ... it...

ABL - Rentas Ciudad Bill? Has your...

It should say somewhere in your rental agreement whether you or the landlord should pay this, but generally in my experience it has been grouped in with the expenses the landlord pays (along with taxes and expensas) as part of the general overhead covered by rent, as opposed to things typically...

    Problems in BA

Ties, I spoke with a friend of mine who is a lawyer here about your story and I have some advice for you. I would prefer to send it on private message, but you don't have it enabled - maybe you can send me a message? You don't need to just "let this go" - there are actually several things you...
