Is the expat party coming to an end?

I didn't read all of that but I'll just point out that right at the start you said Trump lost all of those cases. Not so. Those cases were tossed without ever being tried. The courts refused to get involved. That's a big difference from the common belief that Trump lost in court. I honestly...

Is the expat party coming to an end?

Did you happen to notice the much worse riots across the country in 2020 that the Democrats abetted? Did you see all the security tape just released that showed a very different narrative than the Jan. 6th Commission painted? Did you see the security footage of the Capitol Police firing rubber...

A More Moderate Milei Embraces Trading Partners He Had Shunned

Sorry, I meant "you" in the general sense. Not sure how you got the idea I don't support Milei. I'm all for giving him every chance to improve Argentina's economy. I hope he does. I suspect the powers that be hope he doesn't.

Is the expat party coming to an end?

I suspect that if dollarization happens Argentina will become much less affordable for expats and quite a few will leave. Ecuador used to be extremely affordable until they adopted the Dollar. Still affordable, but not like before.

Is the expat party coming to an end?

Well you feel rather strongly about it lol. We just had a morning news commentator say Trump was going to execute people if he regained power. Said look at his past record. Every two years the Left brings out all the scare tactics before elections because their economic policies don't hold up...

A More Moderate Milei Embraces Trading Partners He Had Shunned

We keep hearing in the States that Milei is the Argentine Trump. They just elected the Dutch version of Trump in the Netherlands by the way. Trump certainly faced reality after being elected. Mexico obviously wasn't going to pay for the wall. But Trump did lift us out of economic doldrums...

Is the expat party coming to an end?

You went to great lengths to characterize Trump a certain way but failed to mention that Democrats challenged the legitimacy of the 2000, 2004, and 2016 elections. I hope Milei will accomplish his goals but it's more than likely his political enemies will be smearing him every step of the way...

Milei Won. He is the new President of Argentina.

A populist president attacked by Leftists? You aren't familiar with Trump? Sorry, I couldn't resist. Argentina has worse financial problems than Trump ever faced so good luck to anyone willing to try to fix it all.

    Western Union money transfer

Is it meaningless for you or for all Argentineans? The average Argentinean doesn't have access to Dollars. If he withdraws money from an ATM he's not getting the blue rate. It means a lot to expats to get those extra Pesos. For example if you lived in Colombia and had a $1000 USD sent to...

    Western Union money transfer

Not converting Pesos to Dollars. I'm saying if I'm in Argentina and send myself $1000 USD through WU I'll get currently 927,000 Pesos. Divide that by the current official exchange rate, 349.something, and it works out to $2649 and change USD worth of Pesos at the official exchange rate. Makes...

    Western Union money transfer

Was just doing a little calculating. The WU rate is 927 so if you send yourself $1000 USD you get 927,000 Pesos. Divide that by the current official exchange rate on XE and you're getting $2649 and change USD worth of Pesos. Would I gladly pay a fee to WU to get that many Pesos? You bet...

    Crime in Patagonia?

I spent two months in Alta Gracia and a couple weeks in Villa Carlos Paz in the Central Sierras last year. Have never experienced such relaxed towns anywhere. People are very friendly and helpful. And my Spanish is limited. I wouldn't hesitate to at least try small cities and bigger towns in...

Best city besides Buenos Aires for foreigner to live in?

It's a long way to El Bolson from anywhere except Bariloche. Tourism is its business plus a lot of produce farms in the area but it's not overwhelming tourism like Villa Carlos Paz or especially Mar del Plata or Bariloche. Just a great place to be. There's a reason people go there...

Best city besides Buenos Aires for foreigner to live in?

El Bolson has some of the best camping in the country. Loaded with campgrounds and surrounded by hiking trails. It's a hippie town in part but that's because it's got a great climate overall. I'd see it over Junin unless you're into fly fishing. Villa Angostura and San Martin de los Andes...

Best city besides Buenos Aires for foreigner to live in?

I read San Martin de los Andes is very nice. One thing that struck me about Alta Gracia and elsewhere was how respectful teenagers and young adults were to older people. Might be different in Buenos Aires, don't know, but I wasn't seeing tattoos, body piercings, or strange haircuts. And...

Best city besides Buenos Aires for foreigner to live in?

Villa Carlos Paz has more going on but Alta Gracia gets my vote of the two cities I spent time in. Back in the States now and when I return will likely head to El Bolson area. Want bigger mountains in the distance.

Best city besides Buenos Aires for foreigner to live in?

The website Speed Test lists internet speeds for cities and towns all over Argentina. If you like streaming Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc it really makes a difference where you end up. Not just speed but stability too. A lot of the popular places in the Andes don't have great speeds listed. I...

Best city besides Buenos Aires for foreigner to live in?

Just spent 2 months in Alta Gracia outside of Cordoba. Currently in Villa Carlos Paz. Both have quality internet, something I found a bit lacking in Jujuy province. VCP at 75,000 is a very developed small city and very touristy. Alta Gracia is 50,000 and feels like a big town. However it...

The Ghost of Peronism: Why Argentina Keeps Making the Same Mistakes

I think you may be equating communism with European style socialism. Fact is southern Europe is heavy on the social programs and are in near collapse economically because of it. Someone mentioned in another thread that Argentina has free healthcare. That's great if it can be pulled off but...
