    Job Offer in Buenos Aires

Well if thats accurate, I'll just do a lot of cooking at home. It seems like restaurants are outrageously priced there. What about deli meats/cheese and sliced bread/rolls for sandwiches?

    Job Offer in Buenos Aires

Alright, a kilo of broccoli should be good for 4 meals at least, and I think i read a kilo of chicken was around 18 pesos, also good for 4 meals. Thus, would four meals of chicken, broccoli, and pasta and cost around 18+8+4 = 30 pesos, or about 7.5 pesos per meal. Sound accurate? This does not...

    Job Offer in Buenos Aires

Hey Revvie, I graduated from college in May. I had intended on going to graduate school for engineering (which I was accepted to) but I decided I did not want to commit to it because I really wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my life. While looking at graduate schools, I was also applying...

    Who is still coming over?

I'll be there at the beginning of August on a 4150 net peso budget that should increase immediately 10-20% due to inflation (company does this each August)

    Job Offer in Buenos Aires

Serving size on my pasta box in the US is 56g, and I usually eat double that, so I'd say 500g for four meals is definitely enough food, though I would also include some meat and veggies often. Are vegetables (green beans, peas, broccoli, asparagus, lettuce, carrots, celery) expensive?

Well, I just searched for parillas and posted the first results I found. It's not a guide a I own but just lonely planet's website, which has not been updated in quite some time I guess. The fact remains that the people who make the salary I will be making for the company have told me they live...

    Job Offer in Buenos Aires

Yeah, it probably is, but I'm including things like soda/chips in eating out (or groceries when i pack lunches for work) and I don't like to spend on snacks like that. Might buy an occasional paper but I have the internet for that. Previa sounds cool, I'll try to avoid drinks in the club all...

    Job Offer in Buenos Aires

Hey everyone, I would like to thank everyone for all of the advice I have received in this thread. It was definitely crucial toward helping me make my decision, and though many of you tried to scare me away, I am happy to say I have accepted the job and will be traveling there at the beginning...

    Argentine salary scale

Well, Steve, I certainly hope you're wrong on that account given that I have accepted that job offer. Although I will probably opt for a shared apartment with Spanish speaking roommates to feel more integrated with the local/international culture and improve my Spanish (and of course cut costs...

    Job Offer in Buenos Aires

Haha, well, I really think this will be a great opportunity to learn the value of things and be less wasteful than I have been as a typical American college student.

    Job Offer in Buenos Aires

Is he a local or a foreigner? Even if he is a local, I think I'd enjoy living like they do, or at least in between. I was also thinking that if I rent a room like a homestay or in an apartment with Argentines I will have a lot easier time practicing and improving Spanish, and I think that is...

    Job Offer in Buenos Aires

I budgeted 250 a month for miscellaneous, but your point remains valid. Buying the clothes/pots/pans etc would come out of my current savings as an initial investment. Those things would not be replaced each month. You make a point about hygene products but I think I can fit them into the 250...

    Job Offer in Buenos Aires

Middle class family, not wealthy but never had to worry about spending what I want, but I don't eat at high end places. My diet is currently poor (burgers, etc) and I would like to change that. I would buy a lot of vegetables, chicken, steak, and pasta for cooking. Not as big on fruits. I've...

    Job Offer in Buenos Aires

And to clarify that, I have the people who work there (at the level I would be starting) telling me its affordable for food and entertainment etc on my salary if I rent a room in a shared apartment but many here are very skeptical, and it's just hard to know what is exactly true.

Are all of these places where expats go, and if so are there are other places where locals (or people living on a budget) could eat for less? I have the impression from this forum that it is a lot of wealthy retired people or entrepreneurs, so I'm just trying to figure out if we are on the same...

    Job Offer in Buenos Aires

Maybe I had misheard and it was 10$ US. I would only get a taxi if I was out late at night and trying to get home by myself. Otherwhile I plan on walking and using the subte all the time. So, with 450 pesos I can eat out around 11 times with that, or about 2 times a week if I stretch it.

    Job Offer in Buenos Aires

A guy at the company says his roomate and him purchase about 200 ARS a week between the two of them, so I thought my estimate was more than fair. I have been told so many conflicting things it's hard to know what is right. I budgeted 1250 a month on food total. On some percentage of eating...
