Newcomer And Some Questions About Renting

What about talking to your friends in Tigre already, it's not a common place for expats to live, they should be able to help facilitate your renting or look for you before you arrive.

    Getting A New Us Passport

I don't recall what address I used as I requested to go pick it up at the Embassy rather than deal with the mail. They e-mailed me when it was ready and I just stopped by to pick it up. You can make an appointment on the website as noted above. Any shop that says Kodak can take the photo just...

    Getting A New Us Passport

They should return your old passport to you, with holes punched through the cover. The reciprocity fee will still be valid but the new passport has a new # so they will have to do a little bit more work to confirm it when you come into the country. It takes a couple weeks, might be faster but...

Can Somebody Recommend A Photoshop For Us Embassy Mugshots

I went there once and they did the right requirements. Most of the places should, they should ask you what you need it for, and they have lists of the requirements. My experience was they did the right background, size, shot the photo, printed it out and trimmed it to the right size, took about...

Laws About Filming In Public, I Dont Want To Violate Laws.

Not sure about on the street but any enclosed space can set their own guidelines. I've been told not to take pictures in Mall's before, in many government buildings you may be allowed to shoot photos but you have to get permission first, in others they will not allow any. Some will have signs...

Can Somebody Recommend A Photoshop For Us Embassy Mugshots

Do note that I believe you are supposed to submit an unaltered photo, so cropping would be OK but editing otherwise would technically not.

American Products? Chips, Sodas, Candy, Etc?

Not sure how close any supermarkets are in Bariloche, but there's no Chilean Jumbo close to Mendoza, if you're lucky and get no traffic, good weather and no line at the border you can probably get to one in Santiago in 5 hours.

American Products? Chips, Sodas, Candy, Etc?

Check out the stores in Barrio Chino and the imported product section of Jumbo and Walmart, the selection varies and is very unpredictable. The US Embassy in BA does not sell anything to the public, there's rumors of a store for embassy staff but the public is not allowed to access it, US...

    Static Dusting Cloths

Anyone found dusting cloths like Pledge Grab-it or the like here? Been searching but haven't seen anything like them.

    Seahawks Jersey

You can check the used clothing shops, they often buy clothes in bulk from the US charities, but it's a needle in a haystack search, it's unlikely any sports stores will sell US jerseys.

Didn't Receive 90 Day Stamp Upon Re-Entry To Arg. In Iguazu

Most people who have commented before on getting a shorter than 90 day stamp were renewals from the migraciones office and they were given a specific days of renewal, written into thir passport, whatever they had left until 90 days. I would presume that these stamps would be for standard 90 day...

I would make sure that you use duct tape to seal up all the zippers and seams on the mattress protector!

Growing Herbs, Etc In A Secluded Little Yard...

I would be careful about hanging too much on the window in case it's not a load bearing window ;) depending on how long you're going to live there, I would look into a tall stand for the plants. I'm sure you can find something that will grow there, just might take a little trial and error.

What Are Sweet Potatoes (Or Do I Mean Yams) Called Here?

Batatas are sweet potatoes, they do not look the same depending on where you're from but they are potatoes and they are sweet. There are ones with orangey purple insides and ones with white. The textures are a bit different and they are hard to slice precooked but they are most definitely sweet...

    Fumigador.

Is the apartment empty of furniture? If so just get tons of those black traps and the spray and just spray it really well and then get outta there. That will kill the roaches, at least the ones around. The fumigator who came to our place from the building before told me they spray the same stuff...

A Moral Dilemma. What Would You Do In My Situation?

I don't agree that in a year and a half something can be damaged due to normal wear and tear, it's all about the quality you start with, we have bought things that lasted very well and things that disintegrated much too quickly. We are very disappointed with the durability of our couch fabric it...

They Let Me In! - Trip Back Report

Welcome back, glad to hear no issues! As per most we have generally only experienced customs agents not taking the forms or looking at the bags, they did ask us where were coming in from once, when we said Santiago they resumed their personal conversation and paid us no more attention.
