Just assaulted I feel not good at all

There is so much that could go wrong with pepper spray, tasers, etc. Not only in the act of self-defense itself, where it might fall into the attackers hands or make him additionally violent, you might also get into serious legal trouble after using it, or if police searches you for some reason...

Just assaulted I feel not good at all

there are few places where you have to be that careful (you better be inside a cab/remis or with local friends anyway). Nevertheless, anything identifying you as a foreigner can be negative for you in many situations. Speak english (or spanish with an accent) and stuff becomes more expensive...

Mobile 3G issue Movistar - HTC Desire HD Horror

if you are from europe, even if you have 3G in argentina, don't expect it to be anything like at home. at least with personal it was always a pain. apart from that, what guillo said is perfectly right and one should always check the frequencies before buying a phone if you plan to travel far...

Fun Betting Pool: When will the next crisis hit Argentina?

yeah if one keeps saying "next year it will really come" long enough he will always be right sooner or later, no matter whether we are talking about argentina, US, china or whatever. TBH I'll wait for the elections until I say anything. To stick to the rules of this thread: I predict the next...

    Piquete Despertador

yeah but unlike many other piquetes this one at least seems justified. as far as I understood, their state indeed ignores some of their rights and the government does not act, so they don't really have other options. Go to court about it? AFAIK they did and won, did not help them much though...

    Cross Country Skiing in Ushuaia

I went to Ushuaia only for alpine skiing (sounds kind of weird to me, first time I "alpine" skied outside the alps) in Cerro Castor but on my daily combi-ride there I saw that there are really great areas for cross country skiing, bobsled tours, etc. While the skiing experience was mediocre...

    Company Paying-Where To Live?

Software engineers are very well paid indeed. Unlike many asian countries, argentina never made any notable efforts to increase the "output" of software engineers in the universities. Studies are long and require a high effort so many people don't choose this career and those who do take a while...

    Milanesa at Ezeiza

In Antalya (Turkey) airport there is a Burger King which reportedly charges 3-4 times the usual price. Happens all around the world. Nasty how they abuse the fact that one is locked in to the area but probably even happening in comunist countries like kuba eventhough it violates their ideals :-)

at what time does this famous after office party start in B.A?

Well, from what I saw: Wednesday: After Office events in various locations (i.e. Terrazas). Arriving around 9pm is a good idea. Darwin is said to be good as well but it is in San Isidro, I never went there. Thursday: People go out to cheat on their partner Weekends: no explanation needed

    Tax Free Shopping

I got a bit confused. Please confirm that I got it right, or correct me: The procedure is: 1.) Booth next to the check-in counters to get a first stamp (basically verification that I am carrying the stuff with me, although they don't always ask to see the goods) 2.) I do the check-in 3.) I pass...

    Crime in BsAs - anyone?

Crimes per victim raises with the time somebody spends here. If you are here half a year, you have good chances to remain without being touched by crime. If you are here 10 years, you are likely to have been victim to pickpockets, theft and maybe even robbery. In the stabbed/shot results I...

    argentine citizenship by naturalization

That's quite a bit offensive. I trust in steve that he is giving information according to his best knowledge and experience. Obviously things change frequently and I don't know when steve did his "tramites". In any case, one should remain polite and try to find the reason for the divergence...
