Milei doubles down on Argentina’s unorthodox currency policy

Maybe 100 years to resolve? Maybe 200 years? Remember: Patience!

IMF Publishes Grim Evaluation of Argentina’s $44 Billion Deal

Brilliantly stated. Makes NO sense to me. I realise that a lot of people keep supporting the current Leader because they see no alternative but I fail to understand the enthusiasm of quite a few

    Doctor consultations for antidepressant prescriptions

There are English speaking psychiatrists who can treat you and prescribe medication. If you belong to a health insurance scheme, consult with them. They will very likely be able to find a suitable doctor for you.

IMF Publishes Grim Evaluation of Argentina’s $44 Billion Deal

I have read that the CEPO must be dropped before there will be more IMF money. That would mean that the overvalued peso would find its realistic level (to the relief of many expats) and there would undoubtedly be greater inflation.

    Disappointed with Food in Argentina

True. The quality has dropped. Now you have to go to the better parrillas to get quality beef.

    Let the property buyer beware

True but in my experience even well respected escribanos can make serious mistakes. Without going into details here, I know of one case in which the property was of relatively modest value. It turned out that the title was not free and clear (only discovered several years later). Apparently...

Milei lowers age for gun possession in Argentina by decree

I don't want to click "like" because I don't want it to look as though I am taking you seriously. This is depressing news. Incidentally, there was another school shooting in USA today -- several dead; others wounded.

Argentina’s Javier Milei has made a horrible mistake

Letting the peso float is within his power, isn't it?

Milei lowers age for gun possession in Argentina by decree

By executive order the age at which one can own a gun has been reduced to 18. High ranking members of government have been photographed at shooting practice.

Economic Albatross Is Tamed but Life Is Much Harder

Has it been tamed? Isn't the government desperate for another massive IMF loan? How can the debt ever be paid off? It seems that it will have to be perpetually renegotiated. Doesn't that limit Argentina' sovereignty?

Are Buenos Aires People More Spanish Influenced or Italian?

I totally agree. The Italian culture dominates. I remember a friend (Argentine) telliing me that he grew up thinking Spain was the mother country until he went to Italy and saw how similar Italians were -- the gestures, loud voices, personalities etc.

How's everyone hanging in there with the cost of living these days?

The IMF condition is just a fact. Take away the CEPO and the dollar has to rise. Just how much is a guess but everyone knows the peso is seriously overvalued. The question is whether the IMF will grant the loan (it will be up to Trump) or just how long Argentina's Leader can hold out...

How's everyone hanging in there with the cost of living these days?

The situation is awful. I think a lot will depend on whether the IMF approves a loan in which case the CEPO must be dropped and I should think the peso would be more like 2,000 to the dollar

Time to Move to Rio de Janeiro?

Whose promises? No loan has been offered to date. Removing the CEPO however has been an IMF demand.

Time to Move to Rio de Janeiro?

The Argentine economy has not played out. Wait to see if Argentina gets another IMF loan. That will require dropping the CEPO which should increase the value of the USD/

    Blue peso at parity?

I read that there is an investment plan for major companies however potential investors insist on removal of the CEPO first.

    Blue peso at parity?

The IMF insist on eliminating the CEPO as a condition for a loan. The current exchange rate is unrealistic. I don't see how it can last
