Iphone 5S Or 5C Cdma With 4G Lte Compatible In Argentina

No need to unlock, jailbreak, or buy anything. Verizon iPhones 5, 5s or 5c, have an _unlocked_ GSM sim card factory built in. Just remove the stub chip that's in it, and put a new local chip (Personal, Claro or Movistar) when you get here and you're all set. edit: I believe Hybrid is right as...

Iphone 5S Or 5C Cdma With 4G Lte Compatible In Argentina

I'm assuming you have a Verizon CDMA iPhone (5, 5s, or 5c), so yes, it will work. All you need is to get a pre-paid "nano SIM" card at Movistar (or any of the local carriers) and add a data package if you want to use 3G.

    Argentine Creditcard

A few months ago I got both a Visa and a MasterCard from Banco Frances. I'm a resident with no income in AR, but have had my Frances account since 2007. It took some back and forth, talking to one of my branch agents, but in the end she made a call and got them approved. Having a plain savings...

    Using A Phone With Skype

All smartphones today that supports Skype will work well. Skype call quality issues have more to do with their own Skype network, and your internet connection (3G, WiFi), than the handset you choose.

    Blacks In Argentina

This issue pops up from time to time here and always reminds me of an old story (2002), that shows how that "there are no black argentines" attitude, on one 5th generation afro-argentine woman at EZE airport trying to go on a trip: http://edant.clarin..../24/s-03001.htm...

Opening A Bank Account By A Non-Resident Tourist

Got the credit cards in time, and used one to buy a dryer that same day. :) Goes to show you there are still banks willing to work with expats.

    Phuket

Go to Kaffir Thai in the microcenter. The food and service was good when we were there a few months ago. And they did have "foreigner spicy" if you ask. http://www.guiaoleo.com.ar/restaurantes/Kaffir-Thai-10380

Possible For Ex-Pat To Get Bank Account?

Like Napoleon said, use the search function as there are some recent posts about this. When it comes to banks, no two are the same even within the same brand. So you'll have to go around. Most will require a DNI, but you *may* still find some that will let you open a savings account with just a...

Opening A Bank Account By A Non-Resident Tourist

@sab15; I'm surprised they want to see ingresos. Were you trying to open a checking account? Those usually have more strict requirements.... or did you ask them about opening just a basic savings account (caja de ahorros)? We started out with a savings account in 2007. A few weeks ago I went...

    Why Do I Choose Ba

Neal, save some money to live here for 3 or 4 months, and come with a return ticket and a Plan B if things don't work out. That should be enough time to check AR out and decide for yourself. Argentina might not be the best place to relocate to right now, but it is certainly no Saudi Arabia nor...

How Do You Get Your Us/english Tv Fix?

Slingbox is a set top box that you connect between your TV and cable box (or DVR) back at your home (say US), then while you live or travel abroad you connect to it online with a computer or mobile (smartphone / tablet, etc.) and it re-directs your TV signal to you. You have full control of your...

How Do You Get Your Us/english Tv Fix?

We use a combination of iTunes / Apple TV, Slingbox, and torrents. We like the ease of buying season passes (or renting movies) on iTunes and getting HD content automatically downloaded and ready for viewing on TV. It's our primary source for most shows (Colbert and Daily Show included :))...

    Going To Colonia, Uruguay

Thanks for the info. This seems a good alternative to the long ATM lines, the low blue rate xoom has for AR, and maybe the crazy paperwork "More" requires to get the money here in AR. How long did you have to wait since the Xoom transfer for your money to be ready for pickup? What...
