What exactly is their Plan. Lockdown till vaccine?

Haha, now I need to think who infected me. I used to go to a chino every day and that cashier was always coughing and spluttering. My moneys on him

What exactly is their Plan. Lockdown till vaccine?

A lot of people I know here in the UK were seriously ill before Christmas with Covid symptoms. Some as far back as October too. “Flu” admissions to hospitals in December were 8 times higher than the previous year. I’m sure the number of infected people is much higher than official stats

What exactly is their Plan. Lockdown till vaccine?

Funny, around the time of being ill my little toe on my right foot swelled up to about 3 times it’s usual size, itched like crazy and was bright red. Went to the hospital and they said it was just cellulitis, but now I wonder if that was covid toe

What exactly is their Plan. Lockdown till vaccine?

Herd immunity may be a bit closer than we think. I was in Buenos Aires last year and in October I am 100% certain I had the virus. Dreadful cough for about 4 weeks, sky high fever, muscle aches and one symptom I’ve only ever heard of with Covid, loss of sense of taste and smell, which lasted for...

    Tourist visa expiring

Argentina tends to be very lax with immigration in comparison to just about any other country in the world, so you needn’t worry. I think that it says in the constitution here that nobody in Argentina is “illegal”, just irregular. You would usually just have to pay a (i believe) 4500 peso fine...

Buenos Aires will be under full quarantine very soon

Why would the ban be lifted after 30 days? The situation should be much worse by then. Here in the UK, the number of cases is expected to peak in around 10-14 weeks. I assume it will be the same in most other countries

    Hey what about the water...

Any time I drank tap water in BA, I was on the toilet for the next day or two... but apparently it does largely depend on the building you are in, some are fine, some aren’t. However, i’ve heard that it’s advised that elderly and pregnant people don’t drink it, so make of that what you will

2 tourists shot outside Faena Hotel P. Madero

Absolutely. Walk everywhere with a f**k off attitude and a “determined” look in your eye, but if you’re ever held up, especially by a chorro with a gun, hand over your stuff, always. Doesn’t make you less of a man for surrendering, just wise, and someone that values life and has perspective

I just don’t understand the brigade of expats that will defend Argentina tooth and nail when it comes to this stuff. So overly defensive and in denial

100% agree. Common sense should tell you that crimes are “up 150%” because most people there are either rich Argentines or tourists, who aren’t used to crime. People in other more working class parts of the city won’t report it because they have an attitude of “whats the point?”, this stuff...

2 tourists shot outside Faena Hotel P. Madero

Yes I would feel unsafe. America is a completely different kettle of fish to Europe. I would feel more unsafe in Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, Miami and many more major cities in the US than I do in Buenos Aires. It’s got nothing to do with what I think of Argentina

Oh please. You are talking about citizens in their own country being attacked. That happens everywhere, its day to day stuff, all over the world. I’m talking about tourists being seriously attacked in the country they are holidaying in, which, at least in my life, I have never heard of in...

2 tourists shot outside Faena Hotel P. Madero

Feel free to name me a few European cities where you are more likely to be murdered for a mobile phone than Buenos Aires. Bearing in mind this happened in one of the richest parts of the ENTIRE COUNTRY. You would never get that in europe. South London council estate, Parisienne banlieue etc etc...

They are British not Swedish. 1 in a bad way apparently, bullet could have hit his lung. Happens far too often for my liking. This, the Swedish bloke last year, American in La Boca, Canadian in montserrat, Frenchman in plaza san martin.. yet certain people will still try and pass this place off...

Ain't in BS AS, but am in Cordoba

I can completely understand. I’ve collectively spent just over 1 year living in Argentina and even that has been enough to turn me into a miserable bastard. Because of the stress of getting my partner a UK visa, a few times I have toyed with the idea of staying here forever and settling down. I...

Advice on the Drive from Buenos Aires to Cordoba?

I should also add that in Cordoba, the alcohol limit for driving is 0, unlike Buenos Aires. So forget the whole “ill be fine with 1 pint” or “1 glass of red” thing. Just a few sips could see you in deep trouble

Advice on the Drive from Buenos Aires to Cordoba?

I literally just drove to Cordoba and back this week (well my father in law drove but I was passenger) and to start with, the scenery is all the same. Flat, boring fields and there’s not many other cars so good luck staying awake. In terms of speed traps, just be really careful once you enter...

Need feedback on San Telmo neighborhood

I’ve been to Barca twice as a tourist for 4 days at a time, and while I love the city (one of my favourite places i’ve been to) I was amazed at the amount of times we got offered drugs and also services by prostitutes. Could’ve been more than 50 times and that was just on La Rambla lol. Also my...

Need feedback on San Telmo neighborhood

To be honest, I think the problem is that most tourists that stay in these neighbourhoods think that it’s perfectly safe because of bad advice online.&yes, here it’s mainly robberies (outside of villas and really rough areas of course) I think i probably feel more at risk of getting into a...
