How to get money *out* of Argentina?

It is really hard to get someone to give their exchange house information. It takes a highly regarded recommendation for most to accept new customers. Mine transfers through a Swiss bank. Last time I asked , they were not accepting new customers. Unless of course it is a substantial amount of money.

Why Still No Buenos Aires-Colonia Bridge?

The toll on the Oresund bridge from Denmark to Sweden is $25 for a small car. I crossed it with a station wagon and my 22 ft Trailered Star Class Sailboat and the toll was US$70.00. It also has trains that travel on the lower level . There is a US$7 surcharge on passenger train fares that cross...

Why Still No Buenos Aires-Colonia Bridge?

The big dig in Boston tripled in price and took twice as long. ( I will not look up the figures! ) The new tunnel under Seattle , where my son is an engineer , is already a year behind , will take a lot longer and cost probably double. Most infrastructure projects take longer and have cost...

Why Still No Buenos Aires-Colonia Bridge?

Two more thoughts: What of all the sailboat traffic on the river ? Ever look out at the river on a nice day ? There are thousands of boats racing , cruising , etc..... Where on the Buenos Aires side would the bridge arrive ? There is no land available for the infrastructure needed for toll...

Why Still No Buenos Aires-Colonia Bridge?

Ever think the fellow who owns the Buque Bus would fight such a bridge ? Or the problems for ship traffic ? Or the additional expense for customs to have lines of cars to check ? Who would maintain it ? A toll would be too expensive for most. Also the engineering would be extensive as the river...

Estancia Y Dia De Campo - Deal Or No Deal?

There are a lot of very nice , and even mediocre estancias all over Argentina. I have stayed at quite a few. I highly recommend any of them , just to give it a try. You will see some nice places , country , and be exposed to some great Argentine hospitality. Anything to get out of the city...

New Cfk Money Deal With China

I am sure that somewhere in the fine print , the Chinese would be allowed some future tonnage of Soy , if Argentina did not pay. Or some discount of the future current price.

New Cfk Money Deal With China

I heard that China has come to the conclusion that Argentina is in default. All previous agreements may be subject to further review by China. That is why Kilicoff & friends have been in China last week. China has manipulated the value of the Yuan for years.

Buenos Aires Foods Of Italian Origin

I am so looking forward to spending the month of November at my home in Riomaggiore Cinque Terre , Italia. I know of a restaurant in La Spezia that all they serve is mussels. And a Pizzzeria where the oven has not cooled down since it opened in 1874. According to the owner anyway. The only...

Buenos Aires Foods Of Italian Origin

As I tell my wife , when the immigrants were coming from Italy , the ships with the pasta makers and Ice cream makers arrived safely. However the ship with the bread makers sank. Italian food here is just another food made to the taste of Argentines.

That's Some Mighty Fine Police Work.

I agree , not the brightest bulb on the porch. But the cops knew he was one of the cars driving very slow. They had either a report , tag number or video. The way these protesters operate is , 6 cars line up across 6 lanes of traffic and slow down to 10 km per hour. Slowing and or stoping the...

That's Some Mighty Fine Police Work.

This in fact is correct. He was participating in a protest by driving very slowly down the Panamericana highway. They have been doing this daily. The policeman may not have exhibited the best intelligence , but he was doing his job , and arresting a protester. Hence the protesters and woman in...
