I Have Overstayed 90 Day Visa... Is It Better To Pay Fine Or

My problem is not that it is morally wrong to overstay but that rules are apt to change. So maybe it's okay for now, but will it always be?

    Sube Card

I keep "losing" my subte cards-- honestly, I have no idea what happens to them. And no, I don't register them but I also don't put a lot of money on them. Anyway, I've gotten all four replacements in Retiro. There is an blue booth in the middle of the station. I've never had any difficulties.

    Cost Of Tutor

I pay $20 USD/hour for private lessons... I take lessons with my teacher via Skype when not in BA, and have real face-to-face lessons when I am in BA. Most teachers on Craigslist advertise at about $80-100 pesos per hour. The tourist schools charge between $25-30 USD/hour for private. I...

    Buenos Aires En Bici

"Tourists can now rent bicycles by presenting their original passport, a copy of their passport, the name and address of where they’re staying, a local phone number and signing the affidavit agreeing to the terms and conditions. They’ll take your picture and let you pick a PIN and then off you go."

    Northern Chile and Bolivia recommendations

When I flew to Bolivia, I was able to get the visa at the airport. When I took the bus to Paraguay, it had to be arranged 24 hours in advance. If you have time, maybe you should go to the Bolivian embassy?

    Buenos Aires En Bici

I checked last week-- tourists only need a copy of their passport (and have to take their original passport along as well) plus they need to sign a declaration of some sort. According to the website that is... I plan to register for this tomorrow. I'll let everyone know how it goes and if...

Newbie Looking For Advice From You Oldies

I have a private teacher three times a week (2 hours x 3) and I am also taking group lessons three times a week at Vos (a tourist school in Recoleta, 2 hours x 3). It seems to be a pretty good combination... I agree that full immersion is the best, but it's not that easy in a city like BA...

Newbie Looking For Advice From You Oldies

You don't have to prebook-- just send an email to the school you are interested in and tell them which date you want to start (normally a Monday). You might as well ask them if you can have a free day, but I don't think that's the norm. They might take you on a free tour though! The price for...

Newbie Looking For Advice From You Oldies

I've studied Spanish in the tourist schools and didn't mind them too much. The average price is about $210 per week for 20 hours. I also took classes in Sucre and La Paz, Bolivia. Much cheaper! And the quality was the same. Although, really, everything depends on the teacher.

Recommend Some Fiction (In Spanish, Argentine Writer)

I find novels to be close to impossible to read in Spanish... They are too long and I tend to lose the plot pretty quickly, given my level of Spanish. If you are interested in short stories, I have a book called Relatos From the Rio de Plata, with Borges (Emma Zunz), Cortazar (Casa tomada)...

Sorry! I had no idea that Americans needed a visa-- I'm Canadian and I just waltzed right through the whole process in the airport, about a month ago.

    Bolivia Tourist Visa From Ba

I was in Bolivia about a month ago and didn't apply for a tourist visa in advance. Everything was taken care of at the airport, upon arrival in Santa Cruz.

    Tango Classes, Tango Shoes

Thank you Bajo_cero2 for the suggestion! Tonight was my first night at El Beso... and it was excellent! A lot of fun and perfect for beginners, such as myself. I highly recommend it for anyone else who is at a very basic level but wants to learn the essentials of the dance. The evenings...

    Tango Classes, Tango Shoes

Tonight was my first class at the Escuela de Tango in Galerias Pacificos. It was okay... but as I suspected, far too advanced. I really am a beginner! I spent the hour and a half watching the others dance... They don't have any classes dedicated to the very, very basics so I would not...
