    Business Ideas For Argentina

They definitely do sand-blasting here and you can find it offered on Mercadolibre. I say this as we hire someone off ML to sand-blast down the facade of our house after someone set fire to a mattress and the flames damaged some of the granite.

    Rental Rate Question From Newbie

I think you'd prefer San Telmo/Monserrat/Constitucion as a writer. More interesting and you'll meet people who've lived in their barrio since the 60's. Palermo and Recoleta are very upper middle class / expat / tourist havens. But obviously you need to travel around and find the place you like...

Recommend Some Fiction (In Spanish, Argentine Writer)

Shocked at the prices of paperbacks here! $165 pesos!! I used to read several books a week in UK but that would be impossible here, it would cost me $2000 a month! And if you calculate it in terms of wages, someone would have to work for 5 or 6 hours to afford a paperback. Disgraceful.

    Assistance, Partnership, Help!!!???

Can you recall the name/address of the tile place where they make the tiles to match? I also have some missing antique tiles I'm trying to replace. My architect told me about one factory, but they were charging a fortune. I will post their website anyway as it's such fun to browse...

    Online furniture store recommendation

I can give you some recent prices for cheap but nice stuff. A good economic furniture maker charges me about 1200 pesos for a nice capilla-style 80cm wardrobe (ropero) with three drawers underneath painted white. An economic double bed (sommier y colchon) is 1300 pesos. A bajo mesada (wooden...

What, In Your Opinion, Is Argentina's Culture

Another thing to add would be "informal". An example from last week - I went into my local branch of Santander Rio to ask about opening an account (note, prospective new client to impress!!). The girl at the front desk was snacking on a candy bar. She continued to eat it while talking to me...

Sorry to hear about your break-in, Arlean. Glad you weren't there when it happened. Re alarms, our break-in was at lunchtime so obv the alarm wasn't on.
