    Buying to sell ADRs

As mentioned by others, it's the most expensive way to buy dollars with pesos. If you really must do it this way, but Intel or IBM cedears as there is more liquidity so vast sums can be transferred without moving the market. Cedears are the Argentine Adr, where foreign companies are traded in...

    The Gold Standard?

To me, a fiat currency enables rapid changes in money supply which is a powerful tool in the hands of a responsible central bank and government. It can be used to stimulate or depress an economy quite effectively through the volume and rate by which it circulates. While money (fiat or other)...

    Dollar/Rent Frustrations!!! ARGH!

I second GS_Dirtboy, get a new place. Casa de cambio, "exchange house", don't worry, most know what is meant by those phrases. It is very hard at the moment to trade cash pesos for cash dollars at a good rate (4.5 ARS for 1 USD). Anybody who has dollars will insist on the parallel/blue market...

    Dollar/Rent Frustrations!!! ARGH!

True but as you know, the exchange houses can be bypassed by buying IBM/Intel/Apple CEDEARS in pesos at the worst possible buy rate (6:1), send them overseas and then then sell them as USD... it's not nice but it's better than nothing.

Even though Greece cannot directly control the volume of money in circulation or print more of it, they can still play to their strengths. The Gold Standard?

These are excellent questions and ones that I have spent much time thinking about. To me you are asking about the value of gold. Of what value is it? I think there are many parts to this but the three main ones are the intrinsic value of gold, the perception of value and the protection (as...

    A year in a Slum

The op has raised some fundamental questions but it appears that the point of his post has been lost in the noise. Is the tone of his post so much more important than the message?

Do you seek answers? Start with this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAfuRSOr4p8 The majority of minds that happen to watch it will miss the truth and will merely see it as “interesting”, witty or “arty” and will completely miss the fact that it is an accurate description of current reality –...

    The Future Of The Peso?

The government will inflate the hell out of it and when it collapses, they'll replace it with a new version and the cycle will begin again. Anyway, consider the highly inflationary peso a god-send if you like to buy things on credit.

Hi Jamila A few people have given you some excellent answers and I would like put some ideas on the table as well. 1. A recession is technically a decline in economic activity measured by two consecutive quarters of negative growth as measured by gross domestic product (GDP). I would suggest...
