    Bringing a bicycle to Argentina

I brought a couple of well used bikes...they were boxed, I did not have any paperwork for them. I did not have any problem at Ezeiza, they just asked me what they were and that was it, they did not open the boxes. I did not have to pay anything

    The Russians are leaving Argentina

Funny what you say about PC not reaching Argentina, when the first line in the article says "Las rusas (y los rusos)..." a play on words on the usual gender "equality" PC that has taken over the spanish language in Argentina. But OK, guess you are fine with that. What bothers me in the tittle...

    The Russians are leaving Argentina

I find the title of the piece ("las rusas...") simply repugnant

    Best Argentine gin?

I was told that many (most?) of the local gins use the same base spirit. It is manufactured in Córdoba by Porta Hermanos. Is corn based.

Alberto will not run for second term

yeah Frank...is real easy: multiply the price from my post times the ouput in yours and you get the actual exports in usd...and fact is that 2022 was an all-time record of usd that entered the country from grain exports. Heck, even 2018 was worst by that measure that the current...

Alberto will not run for second term

We can discuss Alberto's "inheritance" over good wine. But unlucky he was not: soybean prices dipped notably during Macri's tenure and recovered during Alberto's. And BTW...during De la Rua time soybean was at about 400-500 usd/bushel...

Alberto will not run for second term

disagree. At least for symbolism-sake, I think is good that as elected president he finishes his mandate. And no, I am not surprised at all. Not only his chances were nill, also he has little real power left.

El Presidente in DC, big summit in the USA

yes, you are right, in trying to show the other side of the issue I oversimplified things. OTOH, I think is more than diplomacy and posture...Peron was not Il Duce, but not too far either... cheers!

El Presidente in DC, big summit in the USA

hahaaaaaa Pagina 12, what do you expect? Peron and Pinochet Peron and Stroessner and not to mention he was budy-budy with the Generalisimo Franco himself and when he came back he pulled the rug under the constitutionally elected Campora, and suported Lopez Rega's Triple-A carnage, etc etc...

US congresswoman lets rip at Argentina, CFK over China ties

The current narrative exempts the peronists of any responsibility in the violence, near civil war, and coup in the 70s. Peron riled up the left, blessed Campora to reach power, and then came back with the likes of Lopez Rega and Osinde on his side. The internal war and chaos that ensued had...

Argentina’s Latest Unorthodox Tool to Combat Inflation: AI

I find this very ironic. During the mid 00's, Alberto Cavallo initiated the "Billion Prices Project". Alberto was at MIT at the time, and yes he is the son of Domingo. As part of the project, they gathered online prices of many things, from rentals to bread, to hourly wages. The data allowed...

Good Whiskey in Buenos Aires - Affordable?

Check out the Museo del Whisky in Belgrano. The museum part is a collection of bottles, but they also have a bar/restaurant and shop with a good selection. Get into their email list, they organize tastings and sales.

Why are clothes so expensive here?

TLDR: clothing in Argentina is expensive for locals, reasonable for hard currency. The industry is subsidized, and lends itself to various corrupt practices. A prime example of argentine political cynicism. Ries: I also like the Ombu pants. But, at $6,000 they represent about 10hs of work...

Transfer US Dollars out of Argentina

why "isn't worth it"?.... I think the issues discussed in this thread show some of the problems: difficulty in moving capital in/out of the country, many and confusing exchange rates, etc Depending on location, I would add very slow market...has taken me over 18 months to sell this property...

Transfer US Dollars out of Argentina

not sure what would be relevant for you, or what type of property you are thinking of...if you are looking at apartment/houses argentine real estate right now is below its peak from a few years ago, so it might be a good time to buy....
