Visiting Buenos Aires From U.s. For 1 Month

There are fresh vegetable aplenty in this country, but there may not be as much of a variety of them as you are used to finding where you are living in the US.

Terrible Milk - We Do Now Know It For A Fact

For those here at BAExpats who are not famililar with THE CORPORATION, a truly great documentary film from Canada (2004), there is a particularly scathing part of the movie that covers the subject of rbGH and milk cows. That said, I cannot recommend enough this disturbing, eye-opening movie...

Debit Cards From Us Not Accepted By Atm's In Ba?

About a month ago I needed to use my debit card, so I went first to BBVA, then CITI, then HSBC, and all three bank ATMs responded with a message stating that my card was not valid at that ATM. The following day I went to BBVA again and was able to withdraw pesos. I have had no problems since...

    Cheese For Cheesecakes

I agree with Nancy. In fact, I've used Finlandia clasico in place of Philly for many desserts that require cream cheese, particularly frosting for carrot cake. Honestly, I can't tell the difference, especially since the frosting, like the cheesecake, is flavored with other ingredients.

Cfk Orgullosa: Argentina Es El País Que Más Consume Gaseosa!

Coca Cola may be a "Yanqui" corporation, but it is definitely not a "Yankee" company. All states south of the Mason-Dixon line consider the label Yankee to be something of an insult.

Cfk Orgullosa: Argentina Es El País Que Más Consume Gaseosa!

Argentina being a leading consumer of carbonated soft drinks was first noted back in 2013. Nevertheless, I don't doubt the statistics, for I have witnessed many, many friends, of all ages, drinking massive amounts of carbonated drinks, especially Coke and Pepsi, diet or sugared, for quite a few...

Fox News Bill O'reilly In Trouble For Falklands War Report

"I never heard of this O'Reilly but I also have never watched Fox news!" Count yourself fortunate that you know nothing about O'Reilly. His on-the-air arrogance is enough to make one gag. I hope this "war zone" brouhaha continues. He needs to be taken down a notch or two. A truly despicable...

    Cristina, The Master Diplomat

You must be joking! It may not be offensive to some Argentines, but it's doubtful that millions of Chinese will not feel somewhat offended by such crass statements. Simply another example of her deplorable diplomatic skills.

    Getting A New Us Passport

I renewed my passport last year in February at the embassy here in BA. Since I'm a permanent resident, I used my BA address. Re the renewal form and the address field, I was somewhat stymied by the lack of space, so I went to my embassy appointment with the address field left blank. The...

    Oscar Nominated Films

I believe you are referring to AMERICAN SNIPER. There is no film with the title AMERICAN SHARPSHOOTER. BOYHOOD, THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL and WHIPLASH, along with AMERICAN SNIPER, are currently playing in Ba theaters. THE IMMITATION GAME and THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING open next week, Thursday, 5...

Being An Argentine In The Us Is Tough

This Yankee, a sixty-eight year old "gay white male" whose background heritage (looking back to the 19th century) is English/Scottish/Prussian Jew (read Poland)/Pennsylvania Dutch (read German)/Cherokee (Native American), believes it's mostly about "trying to find common ground" as well as a way...

French Film Festival Online And Free - New Movie Makers

For those who are interested and/or have never seen PLEIN SOLEIL (A PLENO SOL/PURPLE NOON), Rene Clement's 1960 version of Patricia Highsmith's THE TALENTED MR RIPLEY, I highly recommend this movie. Not only is it a superb adaptation of RIPLEY, especially when one takes into consideration the...

Anyone Know About Dairy Production In Argentina?

Since I use these three basic dairy products (butter/milk/cream) for cooking, baking, etc., they very obviously have more butterfat content than their equivalents in the US, and that's what counts when I'm cooking. If I'm not mistaken, Serafina, you're from Italy, yes? If I'm correct, then...

Anyone Know About Dairy Production In Argentina?

I'm not familiar with the production processes of Argentine dairies re antibiotics, hormones, etc., but as someone who loves to cook, I have no complaints about the dairy products that I buy here. In fact, after ten years in Argentina, still I rave about the quality of milk, cream, butter that...

    Netflix's Fight Against Vpns

I'm totally ignorant when it comes to the subjects of streaming, downloading, etc., so I might as well throw this question to everyone here. I have NetflixLA, which I view it via a Sony Smart Tv. Of course, I'd like very much to view NetflixUSA instead. Can anyone give me an idea as to how I...
