Has anyone received the SS proof of life form yet?

The forms include the notice that if not returned in 60 days that the payments will be suspended. My SS payments have been suspended three times because the form had not been recieved. I always recieved the January payment on the third (as promised), but when I checked My Social Security...

Here's the most recent thread (at least that I could find) on the topic of "Unión Convivencial." Thread 'Civil Union → Precaria → Temporary Residency' https://baexpats.org/threads/civil-union-%E2%86%92-precaria-%E2%86%92-temporary-residency.49914/

is there a way to get citizenship faster than having to wait 2 years with perm residency?

I asked Google AI the following: Is 2 years a permanent residency required for citizenship in Argentina or only two years of physical presence with temporary residency? And recieved this reply: You do not need permanent residency to apply for Argentine citizenship. A valid temporary...

Cash/effectivo, credit card, mercado pago 2026

Not that I know of, but I assume that they have access to the information. Unlike those who are afraid of attracting the attention of ARCA, whenever I've had a question about any taxes that I might be liable to pay, I've gone to their closest office and asked in person (four times in the past...

Cash/effectivo, credit card, mercado pago 2026

Your pension income may be taxable in Argentina. It depends on how much time that you actually spend in the country (after your first twelve months of temporary residency) and whether or not your income excedes the piso de ganancias. I have never worked in Argentina and I have never declared or...

Cash/effectivo, credit card, mercado pago 2026

Given the direction that the Argentine government has been headed in 2025 and 2026, especially regarding foreigners who commot crimes in Argentina, is concealing any income or.assets from ARCA worth risking your residency? Here's what Google AI just told me: "As of early 2026, foreign...

I've always recieved the amount shown when filling out the Western Union form. I think it also indicates that the "final" amount due to reciever may be less due to local taxes, but there never have been any that I am aware of, and no charges have been applied by the bank on the deposit, either.

Cash/effectivo, credit card, mercado pago 2026

PS to my previous post: I frequently transfer funds from my Argentine bank account into my Mercado Pago account and use it to buy eggs and chicken locally from a polloria that doesn't accept credit cards. I usually pay online from my house before going to pick up the eggs and chicken which are...

The only downside to using Western Union to transfer money from a US bank account to an Argentine bank account is that there may be cheaper and faster services (Moneygram e.g.). Nonetheless, since early 2000 I have only used Western Union to transfer money from a US bank account to my...

I Just Found My Nuclear War Hideaway

Where I wanted to be during WW III was not something that I was thinking about when I first visited Argentina in 2006 and it was not a factor in my decision to stay here. It was one of the five reasons that I decided to move to my present location in 2010, but it was at bottom of the list. I...

is there a way to get citizenship faster than having to wait 2 years with perm residency?

I'm not sure if having Argentine citizenship would automically exempt you from being drafted in the US, but it would probably prevent you being deported to the US in that case. That being said, based on your age, I don't think that you have anything to worry about. Even if the military draft...

Banned from entry for 8 years

    Western Union rates

I pay Westea Union a fee of about U$S 35 dollars each month to transfer U$S 700 and recieve a little over $1.000.000 in pesos in Argentina. The fee is in addition to the U$S 700. At the "current exchange rate of 1475 pesos to one dollar, a transfer of U$S 1,000 (one thousand US dollars would...

I believe that Bajo_cero2 uses the habeas corpus petition for his clients who are actually being detatied by migraciones in Argentina, not someone who has departed after being denied entry, at least not until they return. He mentioned two clients who were recently denied entry: one client who...

If I understand correctly based on Bajocero_2's post, the appeal of the denial of entry have to be made to Argentine migraciones (either by him by email or by a lawyer in Argentina) while Vossos is waiting outside of the country Also, if I understand correctly, based on Bajocero_2's post, a...

    Cheap Housing in Argentina

I am 99.999% certain that the the price was actually lower when the listing was published and, based on the fact that the listing is still active, the price has always been higher than anyone has been willing to pay.
