    CEPO is lifted

I suspect they are making the dollar go down to 1000 so their buddies can take advantage of the carry trade. Now, individual international investors can access the market and take their money out after 6 months, so all the Hayden Davies will buy in and slowly we’ll see the pesos devalue over 6...

    CEPO is lifted

I am now seriously considering it for the first time since 2018.

    CEPO is lifted

Of course they wont’t. The peso is still the peso. They wont decrease prices. It is about to get RIDICULOUSLY expensive.

    CEPO is lifted

Yes, bank or street. You can only buy $100 per month in cash - to get more, you have to do it via home banking, which of course is all trackable. So Cuevas still exist.

    CEPO is lifted

Well, the USDT rate is at 1222 after reaching 1400 on Friday. It was at 1222 in December on NYE. Argentina has just got even more disgustingly expensive.

    CEPO is lifted

In theory yes, as now there all individuals can buy USD freely, so these rates will be the same. So if in theory yes banks it’s 1250, as opened this morning, then dólar crypto would follow suit. It will be volatile this week for sure

Poverty fell in the first year of Milei

It’s one of the big conclusions I have come to from this year—it’s not just the politics, it’s society. And sadly, I just don’t think Argentine society will change. Or it will take a long time. Or dollarise.

    Disappointed with Food in Argentina

It was definately because I was in Uruguay 😅 I'll explain how it was. We'd be out all day, being tourists, walking around Ciudad Vieja etc, and it was 9.30pm, we were tired from doing stuff all day - similar to my life Monday to Friday here - we wanted to chill out back at the airbnb, not go...

    Disappointed with Food in Argentina

I think it’s possibly a generational difference too. I have lots of Argentine friends who are like me. Millennial, mid30s. They live alone, parents in other parts of town or the country. They work full time, in the office at 9am, finish at 6pm, then in the evenings go to the facultad, pilates...

    Disappointed with Food in Argentina

Lol, I've been here 10 years, am married, have a business, a dog, an ageing mother-in-law, a rental contract. Moving to Uruguay because I discovered I randomly like the cheese a month ago? I wish life was that simple haha I don't doubt your point at all though about the possible political...

    Disappointed with Food in Argentina

I'm sure you can get great blue cheese here, and I have had great morcilla here. My gripe is more with the horrific/inconsistent quality of the food in Coto and other everyday places compared to the ease of getting quality food in Uruguay. For me, I work, do sports, study, I don't have a spare...

    Disappointed with Food in Argentina

That's true to some extent. In Uruguay, I couldnt stop scoffing down the blue cheese, olives and morcilla - not exactly the healthiest. Whereas, when I bought the same here, I was tempted because it had no taste.

    Disappointed with Food in Argentina

Just want to wake this thread up to whinge about the poor quality of the food here A few weeks ago, my other half and I went to Uruguay. We went to Tienda Inglesa, the Coto/Walmart etc of Uruguay. Prices similar to here, it’s not cheap, but amazing variety, imported goods and great quality. I...
